Convertible - safe with kids?

Hi All - we are going to Los Angeles at the end of the month for 10 days and I just found a convertible for $100 more than our current mid-size car rental. I know that the kids would LOVE to ride in a convertible (they think they are almost like transformers). The question is - is this safe? They are 4.5yo and almost 6, so would be in booster seats. Thoughts?

Our kids were about that age when we had one on a trip to WDW. If you have no problem with loose seatbelts or kids unbuckling themselves you should be ok.

Don't forget all the sun exposure they'll be getting though.

we did this on one of our Disney trips it was a blast BUT- we forgot how LITTLE the trunk is. I had to hold a stroller on my lap- at least until we could get to the hotel and unload luggage.

We loved it though- the kids still talk about how cool it was.

Just remember that with some soft top and all hard top convertibles there is little or no trunk space when the roof is retracted, not that there is much when the roof is up.

The Chrysler 200 has a full size trunk when the "top holder" is retracted. It holds quite a bit of luggage. Kind of hard to explain here, but, trust me, it works, I show a bunch of people daily how to use it.

Also the backseat of a convertible is VERY windy with the top down. Some kids won't like that....

Yea, really super windy. About 10 times worse than the front. It's ok if you aren't doing lots of highway and high speed driving. Of course, in LA, highway doesn't equal fast if you are driving in high traffic times.
