convention tickets for Disney parks

I saw in this thread, you were offering to answer questions about convention tickets and I hope I'm not out of line but I would love to know more about them myself. Am I going to need any kind of number confirmation or any other kind of authorization to buy these after 4pm from Disney or could myself or my wife just go on the convention cite, enter our personal info and go ahead and order them now without tying them to a specific convention? Thanks

Convention tickets are arranged through (and purchased in conjunction with) the organizers of the convention you attend.

I actually just bought them off the Disneyworld site 2 days ago. The fine print says attending a conference in Central Florida. It does not mention having to get them through a conference vendor or the conference being on WDW property. There is a dropdown to select which resort you are staying in, but there is also an option to select 'not listed' so it doesn't appear to require you to be staying onsite (I happen to be). You do have to pick up the tickets at willcall and will show proof of conference attendance.
