We've never visited Disney World. Seeking a Deluxe resort that is easy to return to for a quick afternoon nap. Do this mean we want to be near the Monorail?

Hi! I haven't been there since 1990, and never with kids, so take that for what it's worth.

But for next year's trip with our 3 (ages 10, 8 and 5) we're going to bite the bullet and stay at the Contemporary. It's a lot more expensive than the Value resorts (less so with the AAA discount though), but you can WALK back from the Magic Kingdom. Or you can take the monorail.

You know how it is with kids: one moment they're fine, the next they've had too much and you need to be back home NOW. I think it will be well worth the extra money to be able to control how long it takes to get back to a bed or a pool.

CR was so nice for popping back for naps or just to chill. You can either walk from MK to CR or vice versa, or CR is the first stop on the monorail on the way back from MK. Getting to Epcot was nice too, two monorails but they were qucik IMO. My kids looked at the monorail as another ride. Now the bus service to AK was not good for us but maybe that was a fluke and MGM was ok. I love the monorail to get you from Point A to Point B.

There are three deluxe resorts that are on the monorail: Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary. You can also walk to the Contemporary from the MK, or take a boat from GF or Poly to MK.

You can get to MK and Epcot via the monorail; regardless of where you stay, you'll be taking bus service to AK, MGM, DTD, and the water parks.

For ease of getting back to your room from MK, you can't beat the Contemporary. It's a 10 minute walk, and it's the first stop on the resort monorail line when you leave MK. If you prefer the theming at the GF or Poly, it's only a few minutes longer to get there by monorail or boat.

One really nice thing about being on the monorail line is the quick access to the other monorail resorts. That opens up a whole range of dining choices that are just minutes away.

Oh, and you can also catch a boat from CR to the Wilderness Lodge and the Fort Wilderness Campground. Even more dining choices, and there are lots of fun activities at FW, like horseback riding, movies, campfires, and the Hoop-De-Doo Revue.

THE CR IS THE VERY BEST. I LOVE STAYING IN THE TOWER WITH A VIEW OF THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!!! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE TO GETON THE MONORAIL.

We have stayed at OKW and CBR when our kids were toddlers, always went back for a nap and never had a problem. I really don't think a monorail resort is necessary to get back for naps.

Another option if you would be to stay at one of the Epcot resorts. Boardwalk, Beach Club/Yacht Club and Swan Dolphin have very easy and convenient access to both Epcot and MGM. Although a lot of people say that they spend most of their time in the MK with little kids, we never found that to be the case. The time spent between parks was roughly equivalent for us. Unless you know that you spend an extraordinary amount of time in MK over other parks, I would pick which theme/decor and pool appeals to you.
