DH and DD (3 years) are going first or second week in May (yeah!!!). We want to stay in a Disney property with convenient Disney transportation access to Magic Kingdom. My questions -
(1) What should I expect with regard to transportation from the moderate hotels to the parks (i.e. wait times, travel times)?
(2) Are the budget and/or moderate hotel pools outfitted with slides and such? :D

1. It depends on which resort you choose. Gneerally wait times will be under 20 minutes and travel times will be under 15 minutes regardless of which resort you choose.

2. No slides at the value resorts, there is one at POFQ, can't recall the other mods.

Hi!

We have stayed at all the mods except POR. We have also stayed at the All Stars. The best bus transportation we experienced was at CSR. We never waited longer than 5-10 minutes for a bus coming or going.

There are no slides at the All Stars Resorts. Some people say the best themed slide is at POFQ. It is a giant dragon and you come down the slide out of his mouth. Loads of fun!

The CSR Janguar slide is very long and lots of fun. The slide at CBR is not very long or fun. It is just like a stone formation built into the pool area. It comes out close to the hottub therefore lots of kids hop right into the hottub after sliding. :(

Once point - if your kids can't swim, they will not be allowed to use the slides WITH YOU. Only one person at a time. No parents allowed down with the kids. You can always wait at the bottom for them, but my DS would never do this without me with him, so we never got to use the slides.

BTW, my experiences with the kiddie pools is that CBR has the biggest and best one. It is about a foot deep, very large and has two fountains pouring out and it was warm when I was there last. The other kiddie pools are much smaller and not as deep. The CSR kiddie pool isn't even a pool! It just has water shooting up and out of the middle and it stands about an inch deep and then drains out and it is VERY COLD (Even in May last year.)

As for your 1st question as the previous posters mentioned, bus service is usually not bad - around 20 mins or under usually.

As for your 2nd question, to have a slide at the resort, you would need to stay at the moderates.

That being said, as the previous poster mentioed about the fact that you cannot slide with your child....My ds is 2 and a half and loves the jumping fountains. He has an absolute ball! Unfortuneatly they don't have these at the moderates -- only the deluxes but if you can swing it expense wise and plan on spending alot of time at the pool its wonderful. If not, the moderates are still wonderful but be sure and let your DD jump around one hot afternoon at the jumping fountain at Epcot. She'll be sure to love it!;)

I have stayed at all the moderates w/ the exception of CBR. They(moderates) all have fabulously themed swimming pools, I think POFQ is probably the most appealing for young children.
I found transportation to be excellent, we never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus.
Just another thought-POFQ is much, much smaller than the other moderate resorts. It is quicker and easier to get around w/ a young child. Wherever your room is located, it will be a quick walk to the pool, food court or bus stop!
Enjoy your trip, I think you will be happy w/ any of the moderate resorts!
