Planning and perhaps renting at OKW Aug/06.
Was wondering the following.

1)Is a car required (walking seems long distance and boats don't start until 11am)
2)It seems very spread out.Is there any kind of drinks or sundries at each village (or do you have to go to main building)
3)If you are at far end of resort,is it bus journey to get to main pool.
4)Do all Studio rooms have 2 queen beds.
5)Options on getting to DTD

Thanks

1)Is a car required (walking seems long distance and boats don't start until 11am)It really isn't as long a walk as it would appear. From the farthest corner to HH is about a 10 minute walk. If you choose not to walk, you can catch any of the theme park buses or the internal bus, as all will stop at HH before exiting the resort. The boats to DTD don't run until 11, but there is also about a 12 minute walking path that follows the canal.
2)It seems very spread out.Is there any kind of drinks or sundries at each village (or do you have to go to main building) There is a place for snacks and drinks at Turtle Pond pool and HH.
3)If you are at far end of resort,is it bus journey to get to main pool. See the answer to #1
4)Do all Studio rooms have 2 queen beds. Yes
5)Options on getting to DTD. Walk, boat or bus.

Downtown Disney shops don't open until 10:30 am so there isn't much point in the boats starting up much earlier than that.

There are buses to all of the theme parks and those absolutely start well before 11 am. They will get you to the theme parks early enough to be there before the parks even open.

You don't need a car if you aren't going off property, but it is nice to have one if you plan to visit other resorts. Disney transportation between resorts can take a while, but it is good to an from the parks.

Best wishes-

Oops! Shopping hours for the West Side start at 11 am, but the shopping hours for the MarketPlace start at 9:30 am. Guess if you want to get there first thing, you'd have to take the bus (there are buses to DD from OKW in addition to the boat). Sorry for the incomplete info.

Carol is right, we only take buses to the parks, but we always take the car if we want to dine at one of the other resorts, like Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian.

We spent 7 nights at OKW a few years back and only took our car out once, to go to AKL for dinner and then to VWL for a fireworks cruise. Had we not had to do both resorts in one night, we probably could have and would have taken buses. The Disney transportation system is quite good if you plan carefully and are creative.

Hi there,

OKW was the first place we stayed with DVC, it is a great resort you will not be disappointed.
