Where and how do you get content for non Kindle or i-device tablets? I've got a Fire and an i-touch and have never needed to go beyond Amazon or iTunes for content. My DD would like a tablet for Christmas, primary uses as e-reader, mp3, app game player. She tends to lose things and I don't want it to be a big $$ loss if that happens. I just don't know how she would get content.

You can put content from Amazon on most Android devices. You basically send yourself and email with the Amazon App store attached to it, and then open the email on the device and install the App. There is instructions on the Amazon App store page on how to do this.

In addition, most tablets can download from Google Play.

Nearly every bookstore that sells eBooks has an App to display their eBooks on Android devices. The one exception there would be anything you have bought from iBooks.
