Contemporary to MK or vice versa.

We are staying at AKL, but have ressies for Cali Grill on a day we will be at MK. rather than going all the way back to our hotel, we are just bringing some fresh clothes with us and changing in a restroom at the hotel....I have never ridden the monorail, but I know the contemporary is RIGHT there on it by MK. Anyhow, if our adr is at 6 pm, what time should we leave MK to get to the contemporary and have like 20 min to spare to freshen up? Like I even have no clue how long you would wait for the monorail to arrive or anything!!!

Wait times for the monorail vary. It could be just a couple minutes or it could be 10 - 15 minutes. Once on the resort monorail, I think the first stop is at Contemporary, so the actual ride itself will only be a couple minutes.

If you don't want to be subject to the whims of the monorail, you can easily walk from the MK to the Contemporary. From the MK gate to the lobby entrance of the hotel is a 10 minute walk (at most).

Just keep in mind that when going MK>Contemporary on the local monorail, its just one stop. But when you need to go back to the MK, you make 4 stops. So you might be better off walking back to the MK rather than take the monorail.

If you see the Resort Monorail already at the Monorail station then it would be faster then walking, so you should take it since the Contemporary is the next stop. However if you would have just missed it then you should walk to the Contemporary and from the Magic Kingdom it's about 10 minute or less walk.

Now when you want to head back to the Magic Kingdom to get on the bus back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, then you should walk back there and not take the Monorail. By taking the Monorail you 1st stop at the TTC, Polynesian and Grand Floridian. So in this situation walking back is going to be a lot faster.
