We are staying at the Contemporary for one week this September.

We currently have a reservation in the garden wing, but for approx. $700 more we can upgrade to a MK view in the tower.

Is it worth the upgrade?

Also are all the rooms now renovated, including the 3 wings?

Thanks ~ Kathie
Haven't been to Disney in 20 years!

I am sure you will get many answers...
I have never been, but have read this is wonderful:) If you can swing the extra $$ , I would do it! No other view is comparable.....not sure about what sections have been renovated, however the rooms that have been, look, sleek and modern.....except for the new double sink configuration. I'm a girl who has products all over the counter!! lol
Have a great trip!!

In my opinion, the extra money is worth it to stay in the tower. For us, the reason is the convenience of just taking the elevator to the restaurants, the monorail, etc. To stay in the wing (and there is just one wing now that they have torn down the north wing), is certainly not a long walk to the main building, less than five minutes. All the rooms, including the wing have been renovated, and the rooms in the wing are exactly the same as the tower. We are also staying at CR in September, and we cannot wait. We are aware of the construction going on, and we are not concerned in the slightest. I hope you ave a nice stay!

I always try to book the minimum room category I can be happy with and when I arrive I enquire how much it would cost to upgrade, sometimes they come up with a lower rate than you would pay if you reserved in advance and sometimes they don't or don't have anything available, but at least I have a room I know I'll be happy in.

You haven't been in 20 years?! Well, think of all the money you've saved over the years NOT going to Disney...that would be a whole lot more than the $700 it will cost you to upgrade, so do it!!!!:)

The tower with an MK view is wonderful. :wizard: We were tempted to downgrade to a wing room to save some money this year, but we just couldn't do it. I think we are addicted to that view.

When and how do you request an upgrade.Say I booked a Bay view Tower room can I request a MK view at any time or when I arrive will they give me the upgrade and discount it as well?
Thanks!!

at the CR I always preferred the tower....you know you;ll have a great view and the walk can't be to far from your room...but there is always the chance you end up at the very end of the wings....making for a fun hike from your room...

I say its worth it...

Cheers,
Josh

The Tower is 100% worth the extra $ per night, so if I were you I would call WDW right now to see if you can upgrade to there. Since that is a very popular view it can sell out very fast.

... at the Contemporary. My only previous stay there was a brief one (July 3 - 5, 2001, Tower with MK view). Now I plan to return (December 10 - 15, 2007, again with a Tower room with Mk view), and I am really wondering what the redone rooms will look like. I can remember that during my first stay there I thought the rooms were garish, with loud colors, and not at all attractive.

It will be very interesting to me to see what changes they have made.

Here are links to pictures of the renovated rooms on Allearsnet.com, however if you want to be surprised at what they look like then maybe you should wait until you arrive at the Contemporary.

Thanks. The room pictured looks very nice. I do wonder about those sinks in the bathroom though. They look very shallow and flat, like maybe they don't drain too well? Perhaps that's just the way the photo was shot.

Thanks again.

You're both welcome and I was happy that I could help. :thumbsup2

We just returned from a trip that included 4 nights in the Contemporary with a MK view.

The sinks are as they appear in the pictures. They look really cool and they drain fine. The problem is there is virtually zero counter space. Only what you see between the sinks. There are shelves just above the floor below the sinks, but that's not very convenient.

The other drawback to the rooms is there is very little drawer space.

The rooms do look very nice though, and they have free internet on the PCs, at least for now.

As for the view, it's a question of whether the view is important to you. If it is, then yes, it's probably worth it because the views are stunning. I've got some pictures to sort through, but I'll try to post a few soon.

We stayed in a wing room while they were doing renovations at CR a few years back and we loved it. It was so convenient for the pools and even to get the monorail. I'm not a big elevator fan, so I like not having to depend on the elevator to get to and from everything. I would stay in a wing room again before I paid extra for a tower room.

We had our own car and it was very easy to park at the wing area and get to and from everything. Walking to the MK was also a breeze.
