We are taking a week long trip to Disney world in July 2017. Our home points are for the Aulani so we wont be able to book for the Contemporary until January if I am correct. Any clue on our chances of actually getting a 2 bedroom with theme park view? We have 8 people and not enough points to upgrade to a 3 bedroom. Thanks.

As long as you avoid July 3 and 4th, I think you have a chance.

(Outside the 3rd and 4th) A Lake View would be almost certain as a backup option

You should have a great chance to get a Lake View unit at Bay Lake Towers. Then wait list for a Theme park view if it's not available. That way you will have a place to stay if the Theme park view doesn't become available. Many of the lake view units have good theme park views, request North end, outer rin

Just to clarify, July trips can be booked in December for the 7 month window. Don't want you to miss your best shot! :)

For July 2016, both the TP view and lake view dedicated 2BRs were open at 7 months out for the entire month. TP view studios (and resulting lock-off 2BRs) were gone for July 2-7 and 18; lake view studios (and resulting lock-off 2BRs) were gone for July 3 and 4, unless you booked them by November 29, 2015, with a June 29 start date, when July 3 and 4 were still open.

If you have not had TP view before be aware that the TP rooms are on floors five and above and are located above the lobby/front entrance area. There is a large parking lot in front of the building and a monorail at about fifth floor eye level is within the sight line looking at MK. The one thing you must request is high floor and hope you get eight or above, because if you get fifth or sixth floor, you may feel real sorry about wasting all those points for what amounts to mostly a parking lot view (seventh floor is kind of barely OK). Personal view is that lake view is the better view with the better chance of getting high floor.

Thanks all! We are aiming for July 14-22 and thats a great point about trading privileges. I will look into that. We are hoping to get as high as possible with the view and our back up to the back up is Animal kingdom. With a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old though the easy access to Magic Kingdom is an absolute perk :)
