Yup! That's what everyone is saying. They are already working on it. We are hoping to get one of these rooms on our trip in October but don't know if they will have any open by them. They look great!

Yep, that's the story! THere are more pics here.

I just hope they're done w/ the Tower rooms by Jan!

Are they re-doing the North wing rooms also? If so, when will they be completed?? :Pinkbounc Thanks!

They are redoing EVERY room at the contemporary. The entire project will be completed around the end of 2006.

We are staying at CR Sept 12-17...I have read that have closed the South Wing for the refurb...but does anybody know if they are waiting for the whole wing to be finished before they open it up or if they will start using the rooms as they are done. I would sure like to get one of the "new" ones.
Thanks, Kathy

I had read somewhere that they where going to do the Tower rooms first.
If they are working on the North Wing, maybe they changed. I wish they would do the tower rooms first. I want to book for January.

wow, so much nicer than what we had 2 years ago which was looking so tired.

we were there last week and we were in the south wing. i always request the north wing but i didn't this time because i thought the whole south wing was closed. well when our room was finally ready and they gave us the room number much to my dissapointment we were in the south wing. i would have been a little happier if we would have atleast gotten a refurbished room but it was the same old boring room. although we did have a great view of the monorail and the tower. :)

the new rooms look great but did anyone notice the lack of a dresser ??

Hoping my first Tower stay will come with a refurbished room they look sharpe of course it won't work out that way but I'll still be back at DW so I won't be that sad. Secondly, I'm sure they'll be a dresser.

Wow, they look a LOT like the Starwood's W Hotel rooms. Same colors and everything. Which we like. I like these new CR rooms very much! We found the old ones more than a bit garish and clown-like. The CR is back on my list.

It sure looks like the model room is in the really expensive part of the hotel - maybe the presidential room? If this is the "standard 3 story wing room with 2 queen beds", then I may wet myself because those are awesome looking rooms! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

There is a dresser. It is one unit that is a sleek-looking dresser with a desk-end that you can pull a chair up to, and the TV will be on the wall above it. You can see it in one of the posted pics from the "Luxury" WDW guidebook (can't recall the exact name of the book).

I am a big Poly fan and the Poly rooms will be laid out the same, with similar furniture and flat TV, just decorated differently. Both models looked very cool and upscale.

OK - I just got off the phone with the front desk at the CR.. They said that the tower is complete, but the north and south wings haven't been started yet. They will be starting them "next month" and will take approx "2 months" to finish. I then called the reservations and they said, "only minor changes are being made and they haven't started yet". When I pressed her, she changed to "they've started, but it won't affect your stay".. Geez - it would be nice to get a straight answer from someone.. :sad2: :confused3

Yes...perfect comparison to the W. I was trying to figure out why they seemed familiar and when I read your post I remembered our stay at the W in Times Square. I LOVED that hotel.

Hmmm...this opens up more possibilities.

Yep...like the W or alot like the Westin Grand Bohemian in downtown Orlando. As far as it opening up more possibilities, I'm right there with you! We alway stay AKL, but I think we're going to have to hit the CR this December. The rooms look fantastic! Thanks to the OP for the pics! ::MickeyMo
