Has anyone recently stayed at the Contemporary Resort. We are going the end of June and I am wondering if they still provide the in room computer with internet access.

The computers were removed. It was a pilot program that didn't seem to catch on. It's too bad because it was great having them in all the CR rooms.

Most convention resort lobbies/pool areas do have free WiFi access or you can purchase in-room access (with a cord) for $9.95/day.

I am sorry to report that around the end of Janurary or early February of this year, they took away the in room computers.

Sorry, the in-room computers at CR were sort of an experiment, which has ended. All of the computers have been removed from the guest rooms.

Wired internet access is available in guest rooms for $9.95 per 24 hour period.

I am not sure how long a company does a test program because they had these in room computers since July 2006, so because it was a test program they had no reason to keep it going. Also on the previous Contemporary FAQ thread others reported from the Cast Members that they were to expensive to keep going and they were having maintenance issues. Anyway when my family and I are back at the Contemporary this August I plan to ask some more Cast Members about this, to see if they tell me something different.

If it were only a test, then why does the Disney website STILL show the in room computers as a room feature for the CR?

Well I'm certainly not going to cancel my reservation over it, but my 11 year old son the technophile is going to be very disappointed. He's also got Asperger's and pays attention to detail and after we check in, I'm sure he will make a point of telling the CM's that there is an error on the website.

I would hope he does tell the Cast Members that the website still lists them, because I would hate for someone else to read that and find out after checking-in that they are no longer there. Now I am not sure what they can do about that, however if more guests let them know about this maybe WDW will correct the information.

Don't cancel your ressie! At least your son has an excuse - what excuse can all of us Disneydetailholics use:sad2:.

I bet your son is destined to be a moderator on the Dis soon;). Maybe you could make a game out of his finding discrepencies between the WDW website and his actual trip; like those "find the differences" books:confused3.

Actually, the website doesn't list them as an amenity anymore, BUT they are pictured on the table in the CR room photo on the WDW website.

If you type in any dates for a reservation on the description of the room type it still says desktop computer.

Oh, I didn't look there. I only looked on the "Discover" part under "Deluxe Resorts" and the CR. I'm not surprised at all that they're still mentioned on one part of their site and not on another, and then shown in a picture. It's great that people can have their CR questions answered here by people like you. Those "other" websites can be very confusing and misleading.

Like I said before that is why sometimes their site is messed up and I can see why people don't like it that much. Also I am not the only person who answers questions about the Contemporary, because you seem to know just as much about it as I do and do a great job of answering them if I am not around to respond.

In all seriousness, my son will be disappointed. I was really thinking that a little computer time would help him unwind after a day at the parks.

If you can't bring your own computer, the only other place I can think of with free computers would be Innoventions in Epcot, which I know doesn't help you back at the room:guilty:.

The only other option I can think of is using the computers at the business center, which are located inside the Contemporary convention center. However the cost to use them is $10.00 for every 15 minutes your son would be online.
