Contemporary Question
I am thinking about this resort for a future stay. So, I have a couple of questions:
1) Does it have a food court? If so, can you tell me a little about it
2) Can you compare the pool to that of AKL?
3) Is there a specific room/area you like and why
4) Do you think it has as much of the magic theme as All-Stars, AKL, CBR, ect.
1) It has counter service with a good variety of food. We really liked the idea that the food was made to order, and fresh. They also have the refillable mugs. There is a huge game room off of the food area as well. It is located on the ground floor.
2)There are 2 pools at the Contemporary. One has a slide, and the other doesn't. No, they really aren't themed pools, like you would find at the AKL, and they aren't zero entry, either. AKL was actually the 1st of that type in WDW. The pools are nice, however, and there are 2 hottubs, as well. You have a spectacular view of Bay Lake from either.
3) We like the South Wing, Bay Lake view, 3rd floor, non smoking. It was quiet, remote, had a great view of Bay Lake, and you could lie in bed and watch the Electrical Water Pageant. The walk from the room to the tower was nowhere near as long as you would be led to believe, either!
4) The Contemporary is the original resort...Mickey's resort, if you will. If you are looking for oversized icons, wildlife, or being transported to the Caribbean, this may not be for you. It is full of energy... there are many references to Mickey, the monorail runs through the middle of it, it has a beautiful beach and great marina, and you just can't beat the convenience. The rooms are HUGE, and it has the best bathroom layout of any of the other resorts. It is doing the Contemporary a disservice to compare it with the other highly themed resorts.... like apples and oranges. The Contemporary has a charm all its own. We highly recommend it, and found it to be our favorite... and that is compared with WL, PO-R, and CBR.
