Contemporary or Polynesian?

I know you said that you only plan to visit MK and Epcot... but just throwing it out there that Animal Kingdom has a train that goes to Rafiki's planet watch. If you decide to throw another park into the mix that might be a good option.

And then there's Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway in Hollywood Studios... So many trains :)

Poly is warm and inviting while Contemporary is sterile and cold to me . You will love the Poly pool and restaurants . It feels like a vacation there while contemporary feels like a big modern hotel . You are on the monorail for both . I agree with the monorail setup at contemporary… it’s annoying. Poly is easier with kids in my opinion . Just because the monorail goes through the contemporary doesn’t mean you need to stay there . You will be able to visit it along with the other monorail resorts . Have a magical time !!! And remember… Ohana means family !!! 😃

I have a train obsessed 5yo... he LOVES trains. He's fascinated with the Contemporary because the monorail goes through the resort. BUT, and not to make it harder, Wilderness Lodge has lots of train things - a model train, decorative tracks and train car... I'd recommend the Contemporary or Wilderness.

On a side note Wilderness lodge has a train room “Carolwood Pacific room” on the DVC side. They have some of the cars on Display of Walt Disneys ride on scale train. They also have a scale model of the engine caboose and a few of the cars. There is a lot of information about the train if you search it. Also the boulder ridge side of the resort is a train theme period with some tracks in the ground and a few other nice details by the Boat Dock. Disney has a lot of history with trains and there is a lot at WDW if you know where to look.
The Boulder Ridge lobby with the train stuff is one of my favorite spots in WDW.

Out of those 2 you can't go wrong. They are both Classic Disney.

I have stayed at both multiple times.

If you have leanings toward either, just pick that one and go.

The only little thing is, I remember lots of times waiting at the door of my longhouse for the rain to die down so I could get to the Ceremonial House.

I like Contemporary being under one roof.

I took my granddaughters to theme view BLT earlier this year and they still talk about the fireworks from the window. It allowed us to get them to bed earlier.

But i think if comparing (for young ones) the pools only, i go for the GF pools over Contemporary although i like the contemporary pools too.
Although the studios at the Poly are quite large, I would take the theme park view (higher floor) to please kids.

I recommend Poly because the pool and splash play area is much better (does Contemporary even have a splash play area? I didn't think they did...) My family of four stayed their last October for four nights and my 5 year old loved the splash pad area, while my 8 year old went down the volcano slide a million times. I think they wanted to swim more than they wanted to go back to the Parks. My son loved the monorail and we didn't feel like he missed out on anything by staying at Poly. It's super lush and we felt like the walk to our room (Tokelau building) was easy, quiet, and pretty. If you don't care about the theming though, then it probably won't do much for you.
