I have just booked Contemporary the for the last few days of our holiday
Got a standard room with AP discounts

No nothing about this resort , please can any one give me any info Thanks

This is my favorite resort. Why others comment that it lacks Disney themeing, that doesn't really bother me. I love having the marina and the huge rooms in the wings (I've never stayed in the tower). I love being able to walk to and from MK. My hubby's favorite is WL, so we still boat over to WC for meals, along with trails' end too. We were at WL in January, but will be at CR in September. We also managed to snag 2 standard rooms for September--the standard wing rooms are hard to get.

Go to www.allearsnet.com. There is extensive information on each resort. You will find all you need to know. I just scheduled a split stay there in the Tower area. We are excited.

We love the CR. You can walk to the MK, you are the first stop on the monorail on the way back from the MK. Chef Mickey's is in the tower so we always have a meal there. My kids love the food and fun center (video arcade). The pool has a really cool water slide. You can watch the water pageant every night around 10 pm. We love it. We are trying GF our next trip. I hope we like it as much as CR.

Have fun!!!

Does anyone know if the CR has bunk beds available? I would think not because it is not one of the "newer" resorts but I am curious.

I don't think that bunk beds are available. I have never seen any or pictures, either.

As far as advice, I would request the North Garden Wing building, and request a room close to the tower. This way you will be very close to the Magic Kingdom walkway and to the back entrance to the Food and Fun Center, the Cont's fast food service (not a food court). You can make your requests by calling WDW travel and asking them to note the request on your reservation and then repeat the request at check in.

Have a great trip. We have enjoyed the Cont. 4 times!

We've stayed at the CR 4 times and had a great time each year. We've stayed in both the S. Wing and Tower. The S. Wing is closer to the pools but farther from the tower and bus stop.

There are not any bunk beds at the CR. All rooms either have a king and a day bed to 2 queens and a day bed.

We've walked to the MK. It is a short walk but there is not much shade along the walk way and it can be hot (we've stayed in July before) so the monorail is nice for mid-day trips to and from the MK.

We've done Cheif Mickey's for both Dinner and Breakfast and had a good time at each. We enjoy the concourse steak house for breakfast too. You can watch the monorail zip by while enjoying a Sticky Mickey.

We have a trip planned for the AKL/POLY this time to change things up, but I'm sure we will stay at the CR again.

Thanks for all the great info
do any of you know where the standard rooms are ?

I just stayed at CR, and I have to say, I'm NOT a fan of it. Didn't think I would be, but wanted to give it a fair shot. There were things about it that we loved, but the things we disliked SO outweighed the good things. We had a tower room and LOVED watching the fireworks from the balcony. Loved being that close to mk - we would walk over in the am. DD loved the slide, but other than that the pool isn't all that great. The arcade was pretty good, but the food court we thought was horrible. Too small and selections too limited.

We were on the 10th floor and could hear the noise from Chef Mickey's starting at 7 am. Also there were TOO many people wandering around the resort. It just didn't have the feel of a deluxe resort.

We did like the boat over to WL, however we didn't try that until our last night...

If we were to stay at CR again, I think I would try one of the wing rooms. But for our next trip it's either the WL or Poly.

the standard rooms are in the wings ..the wing rooms are located on either side of the tower
they have 3 floors there is a north and a south wing the north wing is closer to mk and the south wing is closer to the pool.. both wings are a short walk from the main building..hope this helps

We stayed in the North Garden Wing, but we had a Bay Lake garden view. The standard view faces the parking lot, but you can also see the castle and the fireworks. All the ground level wing rooms have a patio. The upper level wing rooms do not have a balcony. I'd highly recommend a ground level room. It was nice not having to mess with the elevator. The North Wing is also preferable for many reasons: closer to the MK walkway, has a playground area, and closer to the food court. The food court has a separate entrance that is actually just a few steps from the North Wing.

The Contemporary does not have a food court, it has a fast food/grill. No deluxe resorts have a "food court", those are limited to moderates and values. So don't expect a great variety of options at any deluxe resort's counter service.

The CR food court has a place where you order food and a place where you pay for your food. It has an area where you get drinks and refrigerated items. The menu has the basics--hamburger, hot dogs, chicken, pizza. There are several tables where you can sit to eat. The food court is right next to the arcade. The area is called the Food N' Fun Center, but I will continue to call it a food court. One great thing about the CR is you can walk to MK for all sorts of food options.

thanks for all the info

As far as NO deluxe having a food court... have you taken a look at the Mara at AKL? It is SO much better a set up.

Is the FFC that bad? I've read the menu for it and it seems comparable to Mara. We stayed at the AKL a couple of years ago and I got REALLY tired of Mara. One reason we are staying at the CR is to get more food options (no place easily accessible from the AKL for a quick dinner). We don't plan to eat at the FFC all the time but I'm hoping for a good choice of cold sandwiches and I like that they give chips with the kids meals or a fruit cup and not just fries.

The food choices were probably similar, but the FFC is a small fraction of the size of the Mara... it was ALWAYS crowded when we went. Of course, that was during spring break. So it might not be too bad if you're not going during a peak time.

Thanks for the info - we might prefer to pick up some food and eat in our room - or is there an outside area by the pool to eat like at AKL?

I didn't think the CR food court was bad, but we didn't plan on eating there everyday. It was more like we just stopped by when it was convenient. We had a good pizza, as well as decent sandwiches, chicken fingers and snacks. They do have tables outside by the pool and seem to be currently doing some construction right next to it. Perhaps they will add more?

There was a rumor floating around a while back that said the CR is going to move the food court to the Concourse location and put another restaurant in where the current food court is. There's been no formal announcement about this though, so who knows if it will really happen. It would be cool to have a food court where the monorail runs through it, and near all the shops.
