Contemporary Garden Wing room requests

I have an upcoming stay at the Contemporary in the Garden Wing with a Garden View room. Looking at the room map on touring plans, that’s pretty much all the rooms. I’m trying to figure out the appropriate room request. I’ve never stayed at the Contemporary, but I’ve read up on it a little. I tried the links in the Contemporary thread, but they’re broken. It looks like it’s a bit of a walk to the main building, depending on where your room is. How much of a difference is it in terms of walking distance to the main building when staying on one end of the building versus the other?

We have a toddler who will have to take a nap during the day, so noise could be a concern. Are the pool or beach areas close enough to some rooms to be a concern? What about boat noise/horns from the channel between bay lake and seven seas lagoon or directly from bay lake? What about the water pageant? It looks like the water pageant will be by at 10:05 when we’re there. Is that the last location for the pageant? Should that be the last of the boat noise for the night? We’ll probably be at the park until close or watching the pageant when it comes by, so the pageant noise shouldn’t be a concern.

We’ll also have a stroller, so we would need elevator access if we’re on the second or third floor. Where are the elevators? It looks like the entire building is connected on all levels. Is that true?

Do all first floor rooms have patios? How do the patio doors lock? Is there any way to lock the patio doors from the outside so you can leave that way?

I like the idea of having a first floor room in the NE corner (e.g. 6123) so you can walk out to use the pool or catch the water pageant. The only problems might be boat noise during the day and potentially not being able to lock the patio door from the outside. Then the elevator location might dictate how you get out.

Any advice is appreciated.

You cannot lock the patio doors from the outside. I would probably request a room that does not face the pool if your child needs to nap in the afternoon. We like the rooms that face the channel - I've never heard boat noise in that area. Or perhaps request a room that faces the lake but is away from the pool. I've never felt the walk was too long from any area in the garden wing.

We stayed in the ground floor deluxe room at Contemporary a few years ago. I wanted ground floor because i did not want to hassle getting our double stroller on the elevator.

We were able to walk out our patio to the pool, although there is no way to secure the doors from the outside. While the pool is close, there is still a walk and the gates are secured with pool gate latches that must be opened from the top.

This particular room is pretty close to the main building.

We never noticed any noise from the pool except when we had the patio doors open during the afternoon. I couldn’t hear boat noise and definitely not the pageant. Maybe just the normal noise from loud conversation outside, same as you would get from the hallway.

The building is connected and I believe there are elevators in several locations.
