contemporary elevators

Does anyone know if the Character Voices have been put back in the Contemporary Elevators? I read that they were turned off some time ago. Do they have the voices in any other hotels?

We stayed in the south wing back in Feb and the voices were on there and in the tower lobby elevators.

I want to know too. I remeber reading that recently in the past few months they don't do that anymore.

Voices were in the tower elevators back in April.

Was anticipating those voices...but they weren't there.

They were there in March, but NOT in August when we stayed on the 14th.

One CM told me that they were removed because upper Disney management felt that the voices were "unprofessional"!

I usually don't say negative things here on the DIS...but that is
IDIOTIC thinking from Disney management!

Well, I'm bummed. I was looking forward to those voices. I love voices at WDW. They are much better than the voices I hear in my head at other times!

We were also there in May 2004, and I was very disappointed that there were no voices in the elevators! It was the first thing my friend asked me about when we got back (they stayed at the Contemporary in Sep. 2003).

Disney is all about having fun. I guess Chef Mickey's will be the next thing to go since it obviously isn't professional and is too loud.

It's little added touches like the character voices in the elevators that make Disney what it is.

I agree. I have to be professional the other 355 days a year. It is Disney World for heavens sake! We pay for those voices. Give me back the voices!!

we were there last week sep 11-18 and the voices were not on. really missed Goofy telling me what floor I was on. Maybe they will be back on soon.

I hope some "Disney big wigs" hear the complaining. We've now stayed at the BWI since are bunch of times at the Contemporary and whenever I got into the elevator I sure missed hearing those voices. To me it's like a "classic ride"!!! How can they do that???

I've never been to the contemperary (sayed there), so I don't know about these "voices". Reading this thread you all sound like a bunch of loonatics!!! ("give me back the voices, I want to hear voices!!")

What are these voices you are all talking about? The elevator talks to you?

Maybe you all could write a letter to Disney and tell them you want the voices back!! You all make strong arguments about it!!!!

The BIG CHEESE himself said that! Mickey Mouse and the rest ARE their profession! It's Disney world for crying out loud!

I can't believe we won't hear them when we get there. I will definitely send them a note about it if they're still off when we get back. Maybe enough guest feedback politely asking them to bring them back, perhaps along with a couple comments on how it really adds to our resort experience will help.

We sent an e-mail to Disney after calliing the Contemporary and confirming from a CM that the voices in the elevators had been turned off. We stayed at the Contemporary last year and I can't begin to tell you how surprised we all were when Goofy welcomed us to our floor for the very first time. Our kids would run to the elevators to hear which Disney character would greet them. We are going back to the Contemporary this year and were looking forward to this little bit of MAGIC that makes Disney so special! We have heard that some guests had complained about the voices. Maybe they didn't like hearing the laughter of kids both young and old as the character voices greeted them at each stop. As we stated in our e-mail to Disney, we hope that they will put a little bit of the FUN and MAGIC back into the Contemporary.

Are you kidding me.......I can't believe people would complain about the voices!!! I can't imagine why they wouldn't like them. Does anyone have any ideas why b/c I can't think of any logical ones? And why would the CR shut them off b/c of a few people that may have complained. What about the rest of us who like that.
Do these people not like the characters walking around at the parks, do they not like the Disney music played in the park!!!!! I'm sorry for venting like this, I usually don't and it even sounds kinda silly why I am complaining about them shutting the voices off in the elevator but it just irks me. Isn't that what Disney is all about ...the little things...... Lets send disney this post and show them that WE WANT THE VOICES BACK

Well the Contemporary is still "on probabtion" with us based on our Tower stay last May (We have reservations next week for the wing so it may be able to redeem itself.,) but to possibly offer a defense.... Could there have been a problem with children pushing all the buttons on the elevator to hear the voices? Just a thought..... steve c
