Anyone know how popular these are? I am really interested in booking one, and am thinking about changing my resort to do so. I think this would be a perfect way to spend a day on our upcoming trip. Unfortunately, the 'lovely' CM at WDW-PLAY would not tell me if there was one available for my trip without a resort reservation number. I understand you can't book one if you are not staying at CR, but you can't know the availability either???

Since my trip is this weekend, I can't make the room reservation and cancel without penalty, and renting a cabana is 80% of the reason that I would switch my resort (the CM found this hard to believe and actually said so...nice). So I don't want to make the switch and then find out that there are no cabanas available, you know?

So, does anyone know how popular they are? Or does anyone w/a CR reservation for this weekend want to call and find out availability for me for this Friday? LOL

thanks. I had looked at the site in my research today, it's a very nice site! Those pics are what made me really want to book one, it looks so relaxing! :)

Will BLT guests be able to book these, or just CR guests? I know there's been a lot of discussion about which amenities will be shared and which won't, but the cabanas don't come up very often.

Since Bay Lake Tower guests will have access to the Contemporary pool if they want to swim there, I would assume they can make a reservation for one of the cabanas if they are able to get one.

Just wanted to add.... Very Nice!:thumbsup2 I had no idea that these were going to be part of the pool rehab. Can you say, out of the loop. We are going the week after Thanksgiving and if the weather is good, I may just have to look into this.

Although I have never rented a cabana at the CR I have rented them at the GF and it is a wonderful way to spend a pool day..:cloud9: so relaxing..

We were there over Easter this past April & were at the CR for the 4 days while we stayed there. They were not rented once while we were there & we spent the entire day at the pool.

Not sure if that helps, but that is a very busy time of year.

We also never saw anyone in them when we were there May 2-10. The bad part about them is they aren't around the main pool, they're at around the smaller pool by the Bay. And there were SO MANY open chairs I can't see the point in paying for that cabana.:confused3

We never had a problem finding a spot either & there were always a lot of loungers on the beach. (we enjoy a table & chairs) Now, if you want to be served & watch TV while being at the pool that's a different story.

Also, I believe the rentals are for 4-hour time slots. My DH got a price list & I believe it was 10-2 p.m. & 3-7 or something like that, so it's not an entire day.

There is a day rate as well...it's like $185, instead of $100 for the smaller time slot.

well in my time of wafflling about whether to switch, there are now only suites left for like 3500 bucks...so I guess unless something changes between now and tomorrow, I will not be moving to the Contemporary! :)

I will be there in August, when it's really toasty outside, and shade is worth paying for. Being by the small pool wouldn't bother me - I'd rather be where it's not so busy. I'll base my decision on whether the budget will stretch that far (it is a little pricey for a solo trip). I've heard that the BLT pool may be in the shade, or at least have shade near it, for part of the day, so it may not be necessary. But if it is, it's nice to have the option.
