Any reviews on this resort? Thinking of a 2 BR suite (4 adults, 2 children)
Looking at the best monorail resort with a nice kid themed pool and not sure if this is the best choice.
I hear some also have a boat launch.

Bay Lake Tower actually has 2 bedroom villas-2 bedrooms-3 bathrooms-full kitchen and washer/dryer. This is the Disney Vacation Club building and the only one on the monorail line. There is a boat launch that takes you to Wilderness Lodge and to Fort Wilderness. You can take the monorail from the Contemporary (building next door connected by a cover walk way) to TTC for a connection to Epcot or to the other monorail resorts.

The best part of Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary is you can walk to the Magic Kingdom which for us makes it AMAZING!

In order to get a 2 bedroom you might want to look at renting points from a DVC owner or keep checking with Disney since they do not always release villas for bookings at the same time as other rooms since it is part of DVC.

Not to hijack the thread, but how does one go about renting DVC points? We stayed at the CR a few years ago and loved the closeness MK. We watched a show the other night that showed BLT and thought it looked great too.

You can rent points from an intermediary, such as David's Rentals, or rent directly from a DVC owner.

Renting from an owner will be less expensive, but riskier.

There is a rental board , located below, with details about renting.

Bay Lake Tower is my favorite resort--I own there and bought there because of its location.

We love it and love the 2 bedrooms, especially having 3 bathrooms!!! In terms of the pool, its nice and kid friendly, but I wouldn't exactly say kid themed, but that really depends on what you define. There are lots of pictures that you could fine.

Being that close to the park is the best part of it. Also, if you want to get to any other resort on property, you can walk over to the bus depot for MK and hope on a bus. Makes getting to those easier.

Good luck!

Are you talking about the main tower at the Contemporary Resort (not the south wing rooms) or are you talking about Bay Lake Tower, which is a DVC resort? If you are talking about Bay Lake Tower, there are no suites, only villas. A suite is something completely different which usually has access to the Concierge Lounge. BLT villas do not have access to any concierge lounge.

Not really. There are risks all around. There are members who post their points for rent on the DIS who are very good and will not cheat you.

We just rented our DVC points for 2013 from stayatWDW. I reviewed and researched all possibilities before making a decision. I was not comfortable going independently as I was worried that we would be taken. I would recommend an agency if you chose to rent.

We stayed at Bay Lake Tower in February this year. Personally, I love the resort. It is something that every Disney Resort fan should do once. It was the first time we had ever been in a monorail resort. That is a nice plus but truthfully not a deciding factor. The Top of the World Lounge? Excellent place to watch the fireworks but I liked our balcony view better.

We were in a value studio. There are no bad resorts on Disney property. After all, you are in Disney!

Photos from our 2012-February trip to BLT

We stayed there for Christmas in 2010. We were in a MK view room on the 10th floor (I think). It was a standard room and I've got to say that we would never stay there again unless we were in a one bedroom villa. It was just entirely too small for three people. The location was amazing and my DD loved being able to walk over to MK (I sat on the balcony and watched her until she went through the gate) instead of waiting for me to finish getting ready. We were not staying there on points so we were not allowed access to the Top of the World Lounge. I have heard that that has changed but I am not sure. Overall, I would stay there again but only in a one bedroom. I think I still prefer a tower room at CR with MK view rather than BLT.

When we stayed Feb 2012 they said that you not only have to be DVC Member but also staying on a points reservation. Fortunately we were. They actually checked at the front desk before escorting us to the elevator and turning the key allowing us access. My DD9 felt like royalty.

This is correct, DVC member or guests of that member staying at BLT using their membership. For the summer, they have opened it up to DVC members staying at other resorts but it's just a temporary perk for members.

My point is that people have been scammed by private renters, right here on these boards. A bunch of them were scammed just a few months ago by the same person.

I have rented out my points directly to a renter and through David's..... I happen to be honest and would never scam anyone, but it has happened to some unsuspecting , trusting people.

that was because they by pass the security on the Dis. they email their scam - the board tries to protect you - but no one can protect you from yourself.

if a deal does not make sense then it generally has a problem.

if someone is charging you $10 OR LESS for BLT or BCV points - then be careful. the only exception is that these points are going dead in a month or two - then you must them in a month or two.

know what you are getting before any money is exchange.

I give my renters a contract (if they want one) and a reservation confirmation (I insist) before any money is exchanged. but even this is no guaranteed - one reason to use the rental/trade board here on the Dis - and not just anyone who emails/pm you.

there is some reason they are trying to bypass the rental/trade board - so don't do it.
