We'll be staying in the Contemporary Tower this October and I requested a 10th or 11th floor.

I hear the view is awesome from up there! Are the balconies pretty sturdy (I know that sounds stupid) but I'll probably get a little leary standing on it . . . :earseek: Are they a good size/width?

Any help is greatly appreciated . . .

I stayed at the Contemporary resort last November with some family members. Our room was on the 8th floor, facing the Magic Kingdom, on the end closest to the park. The view was awesome and we watched the fireworks from our balcony several times. The balconies are very solid and sturdy, with a strong metal railing and a tile floor. Four people can stand comfortably on them, and ours had (if I am remembering correctly), two patio chairs and a small table.

I'm sure you'll be thrilled with your room!

ditto to the above answer. They are strong and sturdy.

I hope the following balcony photo helps -- click here. (For room view photos, click here.)

I had a lovely time at the CR. I will definitely stay there again. I hope you have a lovely time, too.

hi, i was just wondering if your balcony was on the 14th floor and it so (or if not, maybe you would know anyway) could you hear any noise from the california grill on the floor directly above on the 15th floor? i would hope they would either have amazing soundproofing or perhaps there are no guest rooms located directly under the restaurant. any answers? thanks in advance

Francie, my room was a Tower Club room (12th floor). As to your other question, I have never read of any noise complaints from the 14th floor guests. That floor primarily contains the suites and thus the highest-paying guests. I would think that Disney would be especially sensitive to anything that might impact those guests’ stays.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much. The CA Grill is a restaurant, and even though it’s noisy inside from the conversations of the dinner guests, there is no dancing or loud music going on.

To get a good view of how the restaurant sits atop the resort, please click here. As you can see in that photo, the restaurant sits in the center of the resort and does not run its full length.

thank you for being so helpful. that's a great picture of the contemporary and how the restaurant is situated. looks like it is just in the middle of the hotel with guest rooms all around. i, too , have the 12th floor booked but am debating whether to go the extra mile ($$$) and book the 14th (30th anniversary celebration) and overhead noise is a pet peeve of mine. anyhow, thanks again for your timely reply.

Francie, I had a 14th floor room booked last year, but had to cancel that vacation due to my son's school schedule. I honestly never gave a second thought to the CA Grill and any potential noise when I made that room reservation. But it sounds like you might be a light-sleeper (I'm not since I think I'm deaf from my husband's snoring ;) ). If you are concerned, you should consider contacting the resort and asking to be transferred to the concierge folks up on the 14th floor. Once you speak to someone up there, kindly ask them to honestly answer your question: Which concierge floor would be better for a light-sleeper -- the 12th or 14th floor? I'm sure they'll be frank with you.

Since you'll be celebrating your 30th, I think you should definitely consider booking a 14th floor room. After all, 30 only comes around once in a marriage and it is definitely something to celebrate! My husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary with a vow renewal inside the Wedding Pavilion this Fall. We're not married as long as you are, but we definitely feel our milestone is something to celebrate (and they said it wouldn't last). Happy anniversary to you and your spouse! May you have the BEST anniversary ever!

thank you for your suggestion. i will call tomorrow. also, thank you for your kind wishes and i wish the same for you and yours!

Francie, please let us know what you find out regarding the 14th floor and the layout of the resort rooms in reference to the CA Grill on the floor above. I'm sure others would love to know the answer (I know that I would).

(And thanks for the good wishes ;) -- I was going to PM you but you have that feature disabled.)

I've seen different pictures of the rooms in the Contemporary. some of them look like the room in your pictures with the "bold, contemporary" look. Others had a more muted decor. I saw a picture of a CR room that was done in muted tones, with benches at the foot of the beds and a tablecloth on the round table. I assumed this was in the concierge section. However, your room was on the 12th floor, that's concierge, right? I wonder where those more subdued rooms are. Perhaps on the 14th floor and above? (BTW, I guess they don't have a 13th floor?) Well, we're staying at the CR 12th floor this October for the location and convenience. However, the "bold" decor is a little much for me, although my kids would love it! I wonder what floors have the more subdued decor? Perhaps I should just call them. Well, if you have any insight to this, please let me know. Thanks!

janet2k, hi. i did call CR 14th fl consierge and they said they have never heard any complaints re the noise.

vhoffman, hi. i did happen to ask about how the consierge rooms were decorated on the 14th floor and they said the rooms and the suites had a different decor than the rooms on the other floors. so i imagine that is where the muted colors are.

sorry, i forgot to answer your question re the 13th floor. the CR doesn't have a 13th floor (bad luck). but you could always check in at the hollywood towers over at mgm. i know they have one (or HAD one) ;)
