Hello everyone,

My mother and I are visiting the Contemporary in January and are planning to be on the DxDP - we have stayed at this resort in the past but we have never tried Contempo Cafe for breakfast - Is a counter service breakfast worth it in your opinions? What are your experiences the good and the bad?

We are not big breakfast eaters we usually just pick up a piece of fruit or a baked good, the one exception is our "must" stop at Kona Cafe to have Tonga Toast at least once on our vacation!

As always thank-you!

We're not big breakfast eaters either. The kids and dh usually have cereal in the room and I prefer to pick up a parfait (snack credit at Contempo) for breakfast. Once a trip we get the big bounty platter and 2 platters are plenty enough for dh, myself, and 2 kids to share. It comes with scrambled eggs, french toast, a biscuit, potatoes, breakfast meat and 2 drinks. It's a whole lotta food but we get it to share. popcorn:: I've seen the egg sandwiches and such but haven't tried them. It's typical breakfast stuff, nothing remarkably outstanding but fine. When we've stayed there, we'll usually have a breakfast once (usually because it's a "take it easy" day and we have extra credits) but I wouldn't go out of my way from another resort to go eat breakfast there either.

On a side note, the mahi mahi sandwich is surprisingly good for a counter service lunch.

Enjoy!

The breakfast sandwiches are great - and if you are a light eater, they are large enough to split. I'm staying at CR next week and really looking forward to breakfast there again.

This has nothing to do with the Contempo Cafe, but I noticed you said you must stop at Kona to get Tonga toast (which is a must-have breakfast for me too :earsboy: ) Here is a quick secret, though... you can get Tonga toast at Captain Cook's (the Polynesian's CS- the equivalent to Contempo) and it is quicker and will not cost you the money or points of a sit down restaurant. We usually stop in and grab a casual breakfast a few times during the trip.... it's by far the best quick service hotel food. They have pretty interesting lunch and dinner options, too.

We at breakfast at the Contemp Cafe everday during our recent trip (my in-laws were not willing to leave the hotel until breakfast had been eated, so it was our only choice for quick) - we really enjoyed it. DH had the breakfast platter a couple days and the sandwich a couple days. I had a bagel with cream cheese most days. It was quick and fairly reasonably priced.

Agreed with Cookie Princess--I tried the waffles with caramel and bananas on my last trip and it was delicious! I'd highly recommend it :).
