Contemplating canceling...

Just watch out - once you do WDW solo, you may find it addicting!

X1. :thumbsup2

It's very liberating to not hear, "I'm hungry," or "I'm tired," or "I want to leave now!" Or the opposite, "I don't want to leave now!"

If you're like me, you'll have to curb that tendency to go solo. It makes the trip a lot easier. If you get lonely, talk to people around you. Dining alone is OK, and I recommend the Biergarten in Germany, where they'll seat you with others in a group table. You never know who you'll meet...

Back when we had AP's, I did 2 solo trips. One at the Pop, one at Sports. Both were great trips.

I wandered a lot. Rode my favorite rides (sometimes using the single rider line) many times. Tried new food. Played tour guide to lost newbie families. Chatted with cast members often.

I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Thank you everyone... I am going to face my fears and I am going to Disney!!! How is it dining alone? I am going to do mostly quick service meals but was thinking of going to the hoop dee doo.

Dining alone is no problem. I like the dining plan-so I usually do a mix of quick service/table service. Servers are great for the solo diner. I find I rarely read or look at my phone when solo dining in Disney-there is usually too much to see. Coral Reef is a great restaurant for this, but I also enjoyed the others, Chefs de France is another favorite. I have not done Hoopty-but would love to-maybe my next trip. I think you will be fine based on my experiences at other similar dining experiences-prob. seated at a large table with a lot going on to watch-enjoy and have a great trip!
I have stayed at Pop as a solo-love that resort! Very safe, well lighted. I like the 70s building to be close to food court and buses. Again-have fun!

If it's the travelling that is most intimidating to you (getting to the airport, checking in, handling your bags, security check, picking up bags, rental car/taxi, etc...), then my best advice is to leave yourself plenty of extra time so that you can take your time and go at a relaxed pace. Spend the tip money to take advantage of baggage porters at the airport, if you are concerned about being able to carry things on your own.

On a positive note, it can actually be less stressful when all you have to worry about is yourself, at least that's how I feel about it.

Think about all the positives - you can go on any attractions you want, at any time you want, without having to please anyone else. If you want to sleep in you can! If you want to stay in the parks until closing, you can! That's a special kind of freedom.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

If I am dining alone I will always have a book with me. Lol, so I have an excuse stay busy or people watch depending upon my mood

I say go for it!
You might find that you will make some new discoveries as you will be on an entirely different adventure than if you were travelling with others.

You can do it!!
I dream of a solo trip... I'm even (half way) attempting to train for a 10K or half so I can justify going by myself to one of the run events, lol.
There's only one negative I can think of. Riding in a doom buggy by myself at HM... I spook easily! I'm not sure I could do it.

Only you know for sure how you are going to handle any aspect of travel if you are not used to doing it on your own.

I will say it's really very easy as long as you don't try to carry a bunch of stuff, but I'm very used to it.

Books, phone, tablet computer can help pass the time.

I prefer not to do the restaurants alone as far as reserving a table and that stuff - I go to lounges and bars either attached to a restaurant or that serve their own food. Of course this only works at restaurants that have lounges (and some nice stand-alone lounges like Tutto Gusto or Spice Road where one would probably not visit with a family!) No ADRs needed and I can go when I feel like it. I do not do the dining plan, so I can eat wherever I want and order whatever I want. If I want two appetizers that's what I get.

I'm going solo for the first time this October! You can do it! I think the trick is not to look at it as a trip where you might be lonely, but rather as a trip where you don't have to worry about anyone else.

Personally, I can't wait. No waking up a grumpy DH in an attempt to make rope drop, or letting him sleep and be cranky myself at lost time. No worrying about whether or not anyone else is having fun. Do what I want, when I want, no worries. Want to go to a park and just ride 1 thing and then leave? Do it. Want to sit on a bench and people watch? Go for it. Want to ride Haunted Mansion 8 times in a row? No, that's just me? Well, I may just do that. :p

I'm actually more worried about the flight than anything else. I've only flown solo once, and it was a long time ago! I suspect you may end up enjoying it more than you think.

And if you want to chat... it seems to me that something happens to people when they get to Disney. Folks that would never dream of chatting up a stranger start to talk to everyone around them. There's something about the magic that just makes it a little more friendly.

Thank you all for your super sweet messages of encouragement!!! I have decided that i am definitely going and I am going to enjoy this new experience. :)
