Container vegetables question..

I would like to grow some tomatoes and maybe some cucumbers but I'll have to do them in containers. Is there anything special that I need to make sure that I do (I know that I need to stake the tomatoes). My yard just isn't feasible to do a larger vegetable garden but I want to give this a try for salads.

You can buy some selections that are smaller and meant for containers. Grape and cherry tomatoes, patio tomatoes, cucumbers for pickling are smaller and still taste great. I also use soil for containers. It holds moisture longer. Water often and fertilize. Enjoy!

Determinate tomato plants are great for containers. I grow basil, lettuce,chives and herbs in containers. Never tried cucumbers. I use light colored plastic pots with good drainage. Mine take daily watering which I do for the hanging plants anyway. Nice part is you can move them around if they're not getting enough sun or with lettuce too much sun.
