All the CTers in this post I figured I'd chime in as well.
I wasn't allowed to get them until I was 15 (the beginning of 10th grade).
My eye doctor who was my great step uncle (he died but I still go to his practice) wouldn't let me get them until then.
I wish he would of because I never wore my glasses & I started wearing them when I was in 5th grade. My eyes got worse & worse each year. It may be hereditary that they got that bad or it may be because I squinted so much because I was vain & would only wear my spec's when I really had to.
I am now 35 & have been wearing contacts since I was 15. I love them although I'd love Lasik someday.
My eyes are bad but I am wearing my glasses right now (it is night time) & my script on my glasses is at least 10 years old & I can still see, not perfectly but since wearing contacts my vision or lack of it hasn't changed as much as it did those first few years.
