For those of you who wear contacts, do you find them ok on rides like coasters and stuff? I usually take my specs off so I don;t see much, but was thinking of possibly getting contacts just for the parks.

Thanks

I never wear glasses i wear my contacts all the time without any problems.

what type do you recommend? I don't know a lot about them, but there are different kinds right?

Are you going to wear them all the time or just for your holiday? if you are only having them for your holiday you may be better off with daily dispossibles you get 30 days supply. I have monthly dispossible soft lenses, not sure if they do the hard ones anymore.

The best thing for you to do would be go and talk to your optician and they will advise you.

thanks I will do that I am due an eye test soon anyway!

If you are planning on wearing your lenses for extended periods of time I would ensure you go for silicon hydrogel lenses. This is because 'normal' soft contact lenses essentially 'starve' your eyes of oxygen, whereas the silicon hydrogel lenses offer ultra-high oxygen permeability. I wear CibaVision Night&Day lenses and absolutely love them - they are great because you can sleep in them without worrying and they are very comfortable, too.

With regards to wearing them on rollercoasters, I have never had any problems. :)

The first time I just couldn't do it and it took about 10 attempts and lots of patience. However, it gets much better with practice and you will be able to put them in (and take them out) in just seconds. Seriously, give them a try. They changed my life - not only is the vision better, but they are so comfortable as well. I'm not suitable for laser eye surgery, but I am very happy with contacts as a substitute.

I don't have a problem doing anything in soft lenses.:thumbsup2

might need to close eyes at Typhoon Lagoon etc! when approaching the end of a drop.

I am just so fed up of having the take glasses off when you come to the drop of Atlantis or something, but you have to or you just don't see any of the boat trip on the way round. I am going to try and get an eyetest and see what my optician says.

I have a bit of an eye phobia but once I have gotten used to putting them in and out I am sure that I will be ok.

I agree with Frances, the type that you don't take out at night are brilliant, really comfy too

I wear glasses normally but have daily disposable lens for holidays and the odd night out. I am sure you won't have any problems getting used to them. :goodvibes

If I'm not wearing my contact lens I keep my glasses on and find them quite secure on rides like Atlantis, Mummy, Splash, Big Thunder, Tower of Terror (bear in mind I don't do anything that tips me upside down) however I recently rode Atlantis for the first time in contacts and it completely washed my mascara down my face leaving me looking like a panda :rotfl: :rotfl:

Next time I will be wearing my glasses on there for protection! :lmao: :lmao:

Hi guys,

regarding the night and day lenses, I read that you should take them out after about 6 days and give your eyes a night's rest. Have you found that to be the case and if you do take them out, what do you clean them with, or do you just leave them in saline solution?

I've had the daily disposables and found them great after years of old gas permeable, cleaning, sterilising, etc.!! I have an appointment for eye test and assessment next week so considering some of these. Also found them the cheapest on Tesco opticians for £39 for 3 pairs/3 months. Anyone got them any cheaper??

Also, the only rides I took my specs off for were the upside down ones, RnRC, Hulk, plus space mountain and ToT (last one more coz I didn't want to see!!), but I would imagine contacts would be fine.

cheers

Lynn

Ware Bears - I went on Atlantis with a guy who lost his prescription sun glasses on the ride! He had to wait until they drained the ride at night to see if they could be found and then come back the following day to look at lost property! I just can't face that happening but I want to see!!

I take them out every so often -- I don't wear them for 30 days continuously. However, they are FDA approved for continuous 30 days continual wear, so there is no medical reason why you should need to take them out after 6 days, although some opticians do recommend this for greater precaution.

I clean them with clear care. It's incredible. I used to use regular saline solution and found that after a while my lenses would get blurry and wouldn't be so comfortable to wear. After soaking them in clear care they are literally like a new pair of lenses. It's great! No need to rub them....much faster. :)

Many years ago I wore the contact lenses that you wore for 6 days straight and then wore glasses on the 7th day. It just didn't feel right and my optician said it wasn't really a healthy thing so I stopped doing it.

I buy contact lenses for my holidays and the daily disposable ones are great. I buy mine online from contactlenses.co.uk. But first I would see an optician and see that you are suited to having contacts and they will help you with learning to put them on and give you a prescription should you choose to buy them elsewhere.

The nice thing about the daily ones is that you can carry an extra one or two in case one pops out (as one of mine did during the Little Mermaid show!) and they are very very comfortable.

mine stay in for a continuous 30 days, the only time I've ever rested them is when I've had a bad cold that has gone straight to my eyes, only then do they feel a little uncomfortable.
I have very regular lens and eye checks and they've improved the health of my eyes rather than worsened them
