The quieter, 3-story garden wings are certainly an alternative. Be prepared for a bit of a hike from the main building, although they come with the added convenience of being close to the pool. None contain balconies; however, if you're lucky enough to score a room on the ground floor facing Bay Lake, you'll find a nice patio outside your back door. And be sure to book a Garden View room (comes with a garden, pool, or lake view) or suffer the consequences of a standard room with a parking lot view. What the Contemporary calls a Wing Room comes with a slightly larger bath and a king bed but a non-parking lot view is not guaranteed.
Roomy Deluxe Garden Suites, located in the garden wings with views of Bay Lake, sleep eight and contain over 1,300 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths plus a comfortable living area, dining table, two daybeds, queen sofa sleeper, and kitchen. Junior Suites, also located in the garden wings, are a bit larger than a standard room with either one king or queen bed, a daybed, and a large bath in addition to excellent views of the lake. Suites in the garden wing do not include concierge service.
Room tip: Rooms located in the wings do require a bit of a trek to board the monorail. If you plan on walking to the Magic Kingdom (only a 10-minute walk and a smart alternative to the monorail after park closing), ask for a room close to the park in the North Garden Wing. Although tower rooms on the Magic Kingdom side have a marvelous view of the park, they also come with a not-so-marvelous view of the parking lot; however, it's worth it for front-row seats of the nighttime fireworks display.
