Construction at Vistana Villages?

We stayed at Vistana Villages last spring and took the timeshare tour (earned $100 on a rainy day). They mentioned a new "phase" that will be constructed there, adding several new buildings. They even showed us a "future" map of the resort.

Now we are returning this spring, and wondering if any of this new construction has begun yet. Has anyone been there recently and noticed any construction going on? If so, exactly where and what buildings is it near? We would definitely like to request rooms as far away as possible.

I guess I should have paid more attention to the presentation -- they may have said the new phase would begin this year, or they may have said it is planned for 2010! I was probably looking at my watch (again and again) when they mentioned the timetable. Serves me right!

Oh, good! I'm hoping that since nobody on the DIS boards has noticed any construction, there must not be any yet! Hurray!

When I took the tour there about 2 years ago, the model showed a 2nd phse to be built behind the existing resort (not fronting on I-drive).
When I was in Orlando in February, I noticed that the site adjacent to Vistana Villages (fronting on I-drive) was being cleared. It looked like the start of a major project. There were no signs up, so I have no idea what it was - whether is was an expansion of the villages, or something else. If it is an expansion, it doesn't match the location I saw in the model 2 years ago.

Looks like you paid more attention on the tour than I did!

This new construction sounds like something we still might want to avoid by trying to request a certain building or area (don't want to disturb two napping toddlers ). When you enter the resort, would the construction be to the left of the resort or to the right?

As you enter the resort, the construction site I saw was to the right. (To the left, if I remember correctly, is an existing apartment complex).
