What kind of Construction is going on at DCA park?? We will be visiting for the first time in early May and wondering if the whole park will be torn up??? Also if anyone knows what rides will be closed due to the new theming... Thanks for any info!

There is a lot of construction fences up right now. Everywhere you turn there is areas blocked off. The rides are open. It is just hard to get around. The pier area has a lot of narrow passages due to fences being up on each side of the pier. It really took away from the feel of the park. I was not happy with it at all.

I know that stinks, but there really is no other way for them to do it. They HAVE to fix DCA, as indicated by the fact that attendance is not where you would expect it to be. It will be worth it once they have it all finished. At least they aren't closing rides except for ones they are specificially working on at the time.

I wish there was something I could tell you. I am going mid May and I am trying not to even think about what it looks like. The remodeling of the park totally needs to be done, and its only going to get worse before it gets better. Once its done though its going to be so worth the pain and the wait.

They have people everywhere from cast members to family of Disney employees to regular everyday people and they are reporting all the news about DCA plans and current construction. Permits, legalities, finances and a lot more can slow down or stop a project and some projects get done ahead of schedule so check often for updates.

By end of April the San Francisco refurb and bathroom move will be done. Boardwalk will also be done in theory including the 4 games, retheming the boardwalk, retheming the Sun Wheel which currently has no gondolas, and retheming of California Screamin'.'

Once they have Boardwalk finished then they will start with tearing down the old bathrooms at San Francisco street, retheming remaining boardwalk rides and shops that were not rethemed earlier, and demolishing Dreams aka Whoopi's show. That means in May you should see the south side of boardwalk intact and the beginning of the north side. The warf and its bridge to boardwalk bridge is being worked on and should be open then but not sure about the restaurant that was the Lucky Fortune Cookie.
