Considering tent camping Memorial Day week

My family has only converted to camping in the last year. I am wondering how FW fits into my camping style. I like Sandy tent pads, electricity, and good showers- all of which I think FW has. My concerns are temps and location/distance for bathrooms. I like to temps to be 80-85 during the day and about 60 for a low. I don't want to ever be cold. More importantly, I have always been within 5 or 6 campsites to the bathroom, for those nighttime potty breaks. How spread out are the comfort stations? Are the tent sites close?
Other alterations for FW, I think I'd rather just use a small refrigerator than a cooler, and I really like the cot rental idea. I was wondering if I'd be too tired for a long more day sleeping on an air mattress.
Any other ideas or things this newbie should consider?

The real campers will chime in I'm sure.
I like to be pampered on vacation so the closest I'll get is a "maybe, possibly" to consider a stay at the FW cabins, lol.
It looks like fun to camp but my only experiences were years back, in a park setting and at a beach. None have which id ever care to repeat, voluntarily.
Enjoy your camping Disney clvisit

So, for the Sandy tent pads, electricity (internet and cable) and good showers, then the Fort is AWESOME. Distance from the comfort station???? Well that is another concern. While I don't feel any location to the comfort stations are all that far away, there are many sites that are more than 5 or 6 campsites away.

If you pull up a map of Fort Wilderness, you will see all the comfort stations marked, but unless you have been there it's a bit deceiving because it's not entirely to scale. That and the loops have upwards of 50 (or more) sites in some of them. Others not quite as much but still there are several and you don't get that sense on the map.

As far as Temperature, I know @bama_ed will always look at Accuweather's "Historical" temps to make that determination. Not ever being at the Fort (or Florida) during memorial day, I cannot say, but I am sure your favorite weather app can help you determine it.

If you are already a "Camper" (Tent or otherwise) and you have been to OTHER campsites as a basis of comparison, I am certain that the Fort will NOT disappoint you.

We tent camped at the Fort last May (checked out the Friday before Memorial Day). We stayed in a regular tent site and the Comfort stations were a short walk away. I will say that while the sites are shaded, the tents got pretty hot mid-day, but most days we were at the parks during the hottest time of day anyway. It DID get cold enough at night for us to need a blanket. We needed a light jacket for the walk to the comfort stations in the early morning before sunrise. We slept on air mattresses in standard 3-season tents. We used a portable wheeled cooler for drinks, etc - one bag of ice a day kept everything plenty cold. But, we didn't store any perishables. We've camped for years in tents and popup campers. The Fort is by far the nicest we've ever stayed at (including other pricey private campgrounds throughout the Northeast and Central TX). Heading back there to tent camp for 2 weeks in early June :)

I can tell you that the weather temps are getting pretty warm by May, especially the end of May. We have been there at that time and we have had a few cool rainy days and also some hot and humid days. It's kind of the luck of the draw, with the weather 'leaning' on the hot/humid side. We could not be sleeping comfortably in a tent, for sure.

As with any time of year, the weather can definitely vary! You can't 'count' on any one kind for most months - except really, really, hot and humid in the summer months!! :sunny:

We are tent campers and for the few times we have been to Fl. during the summer months we use satin sheets and have two fans running in the tent. As for the sandy pad, it is more of a crushed shell, sand mix. We use a outdoor carpet and also have a carpet for the inside of the tent, that stuff gets everywhere. We use a leaf blower for the outside carpet and a small Shark vacuum for the inside. When we get ready to come home we swept the inside of the tent and still have some crushed shell when we set it back up next time we use it. As for the CS, it can be a bit of a walk, but when you do your ressie you can request that you be close to a CS, or when you check in you can ask if there are any sites close. We requested to be close to one a couple trips back and they put us right across the road from the CS.
