Hi,

I have lurked here often but have never cruised. I really really REALLY want to. I want to go on the October 29th cruise on the Magic. DH will more than likely not be going. DD will be 5 and DS will be 3 on this cruise. I am considering just taking DD and leaving DS with DH but then I am feeling kind of guilty about it. But then I think if I try to take both, I should have my head examined,. They are both good kids but I do not want to spread myself too thin.

Thoughts, ideas, a number for a good shrink for even considering this would be greatly appreciated.

Taking both would probably be fine since there is the OC for the kids to go to when you feel you need some alone time but having DH go would be better. Maybe try to go when he will be able to. It will make it a wonderful family vacation that you will not forget.

If he loves you, he won't prevent you from the most magical, wonderful cruis ever. If he wises up, he'll join you. If he's just not a cruise person, well, go back and watch your wedding video to make sure your vows did not include forsaking the Disney Cruise, then go for it, and bring him back a nice photo of the three of you happy as can be from shutters as his present.

Of course I'm a divorce lawyer, so as I say to people I know, try not to become a client....

I don't think you need a shrink - I'm doing the same thing. My two oldest will be 7&3 when we cruise in August. My dh isn't interested, so we're going alone.

However, I should say, we also have 5 month old twins, which makes taking two walking, talking, sleeping kids on a cruise by myself look like a picnic. It's all perspective!

I'm sure you'll have a blast - I know I'm planning on having a great time!

I dont think you are crazy at all. i am thinking about taking my 9,8 and 5 year old and leaving DS 1 at home with DH!

Thanks all for your words of encouragement! I am really seriously considering taking both now. I really think both kiddos will love the OC, so that will definitely offer much needed breaks.

:rotfl2: Too funny. He has actually never been on a cruise either. Just didn't want to invite him, but that is another story. Maybe I should become a client! :teeth:

Thanks again!

I took my two oldest dd 15 and ds 10 on the 2004 Western - my husband doesn't like cruising! We left little brother 5 at home because with dad because he did not want to go either. He was very shy and clingy - not open to kids clubs - not old enough to do the excursions we wanted to do. One look at a stingray and I would have had to take him back to the ship! As a side note our whole family went on the Land and Sea in 2002 and DH and little DS did not get into it at all. Since I and the two oldest realized how wonderful the DCL trip was we just decided to go without them the next time - we had a much better time with them at home! Now I am planning a 2006 trip and littlest one does want to go he will be 8 - so DH is staying home alone - go figure!!? We are going to have a blast!

We are a family of three, and live close enough to drive to the port, so we are fortunate that the expenses can be controlled. Oh, and we can live w/o a verandah helps, too. If your DH (I'm sure he's a fine man and all, but if he doesn't get into DCL, is he truly a DH, or is he just an H?) doesn't go, you will be a party of 4. Many threads on here include issues of what to do for a party of 5, book 2 staterooms or spend mucho $ on a cat. 4 or higher. If H became a DH, the economics of the whole trip change big time. Don't encourage him. Leaves more $ for you to go on more DCL cruises.

No, I'm not trying to drum up more divorce clients! Just need a break from this settlement agreement I'm revising. That man,the opposing party, will never be a DH, he was just an H, now he is XH.
