Neither, it's related to owning none DVC timeshare and exchanging in.What do you mean? Using points and calculating an equivalent or paying cash through Disney?
It's been 3 weeks since your last post. I'm not sure why you want to make this personal. There has been no attempt to mislead and I don't believe I have misled, I'd have been happy to give the additional information without the confrontational nature of your posts. Generally this group doesn't want long explanations related to other timeshares. As I noted, my previous costs were in that range, some less, some likely a little more. It's generally been more with RCI than it was with II as well. As I stated in another thread, I include exchange fees, additional fees, maint fees directly related to what's been exchanged and where applicable, the original acquisition costs related to exchanges or rentals (though not applicable in this situation due to there being essentially none) and any other direct or indirect fees. As exchange fees go up and the TPU goes up for DVC, obviously the related costs will as well, that's simple timesharing 101. The TPU to get into DVC has gone from the low teens to the 30's & 40's. Early on when DVC changed to RCI I got exchanges for 15 for a deposit that was 60 TPU and cost me about $500 for the entire deposit, those times have change somewhat. Based on those parameters and assuming the same TPU from both sides remains fairly constant based on the current situation (risky with timeshares of course), I expect my costs going forward to approximate $600 per 1 or 2 BR exchange or just over. That ignores my 3 free weeks a year which will bring the costs down modestly. That accounts for yearly fees, housekeeping costs per reservation deposited, RCI exchange fee, the $95 resort services fee and a prorated amount of a special assessment and is significantly more than has been historical in my situation. I count 4 exchanges to DVC out of my weeks account two 1BR and two 2BR BCV, BWV & AKV. I count 5 exchanges out of my RCI points account, three 1BR and two 2BR to OKW, SSR & AKV. I count 21 exchanges from my II account 14 being 1BR & 6 being 2BR with 1 efficiency. Seven of which were using bonus weeks. Nine of those were the same week where we treated family. So basically it doesn't cost $400 for a 2 bedroom. Hate it when people are mislead.
Also you still must factor into the cost of the maint. dues, taxes and fees on the timeshare that gets traded even if you do get extra weeks.
I've also been straight forward that one can't attain the same costs out of the blue as I have historically.
Even at the worst case scenario that's still half of JUST the fees it'd take using my DVC points or your BLT points directly and when you add in the acquisition costs there, because they are dramatic at roughly $13K up front for 150 BLT points, it still comes in a third to quarter of owning DVC. Obviously you're potentially giving up some things for that savings including some control, potential times to visit and flexibility and that's part of the decision potential members have to make.
