Considering an Epcot Area hotel...help

I would vote for the Boardwalk. I thought it was better for getting to both EPCOT and DHS. I think the kids would like the pool there. However, if you will have a lot of pool time, I think you might be better off at YC/BC. Everyone loves the pool there. Regarding QS, while at the BWI, I usually go to the bakery on the Boardwalk in the morning for egg sandwiches, pastries, juice, coffee, etc. I've never walked to EPCOT for breakfast. My comment on OKW would be that I loved the amount of space you get for the money. Your family would love the space, but I think if you stayed there, you should rent a car. I didn't mind the buses, but I didn't have 3 boys in tow.:D Have a great time no matter what you decide.

We LOVED Beach Club - I could live in Stormalong Bay :) We didn't have any QS issues - most of the time we're eating in the park anyway. We had Hurricane Hanna's once and the Marketplace once, and both were good.

We typically stay deluxe and have done AKL, VWL, WL, VGF, and Poly but never have tried out an Epcot area resort. Pros/Cons of both resorts or even OKW. We have 3 boys: 10,8, 4...my biggest worry is lack of quick service.

I've stayed at BWI, BWV, YC, and BCV. I like them all for different reasons. If quick service were super important to me though, I'd probably pick a different resort. If you really appreciate the convenience of having a CS right in the hotel, the BW area Disney resorts don't really have great options. I tried eating at the bakery once, and I didn't see anything I wanted to eat. I finally decided on a muffin. When I went to order it, the CM told me it was too old and then threw it away.

A great quick service option is Picabu at the Dolphin. I've only gone for lunch/dinner, but they also serve breakfast. It's a cafeteria and super quick, and I've never had a bad meal there.

OKW has nice big rooms, has a super relaxing atmosphere, the pool is very nice but not huge and overwhelming, and there is a nice boat to DTD. The CS is pretty small though and only has outdoor seating. Depending on where you are staying in the resort, you also might be pretty far from it. It's a big resort.

You would love YC with boys that age! (Assuming they love to swim.) if you plan ahead, you will not miss the QS. I knew that breakfast options were limited, so I stopped the night before at Les Halle's for breakfast pastries. Nothing beats a pain au chocolat or frangipani looking out at the lake from your balcony! I requested a room near an exit door, which made walking to Hurricane Hanna's (which was serving breakfast the last time we visited) or across to the Beach Club marketplace easy. We also enjoyed Captains Grille for breakfast and the Ale and Compass lounge for a couple of quick items. We sort of skipped lunch one day, as nothing struck our fancy, but we never went hungry! Full disclosure, our family prefers breakfast with groceries from Garden Grocer and most other meals ADR, over QS.

BC for the pool. You will have Hurricane Hannahs at the pool and Beaches and Cream for the ice cream walk up window. Marketplace is fine for breakfast, I agree.

We stayed here a few times when my kids were your kids' ages. When they were teens, they liked BWI, but by then they weren't as into swimming in the pool.

The BWI, BC & YC may not have the traditional food court that you're used to but you won't go hungry. There are so many places to choose from between the restaurants, lounges & market at the BC/YC, the pizza window, stands, bakery & restaurants of the BW and all of the Swan & Dolphin & Epcot that you're all set when it comes to any type of food & any type of service that you're in the mood for. Enjoy!
