As someone who was all set to fly to Rio de Janeiro on the evening of March 13, 2020, until we turned on the 1 pm news conference and saw Justin Trudeau tell us that non-essential travel was off limits... I have a horrible feeling of deja vu and can't believe we're back here again.
Tonight's rumours seem to indicate that the US border will be open, but that there will be an advisory against non-essential travel. DH and I haven't discussed it, and we'll wait to see what the official word is before making any decisions. My gut feel is that if the definition of non-essential is left to us, and our travel health insurance policy still covers us, I would vote to go. We're booked and paid and stand to lose a chunk if we need to cancel. It's a short trip so even with cases growing exponentially, this thing won't have time to truly take off before we're home. We take the recommended precautions every day and would continue that at Disney. I think I could even argue that we'd be safer out in the open air and sunshine in Orlando than we are at home where life has moved indoors due to the cold.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
