I have to admit that I like Barrack Obama though most of his political beliefs run afoul of my tastes. What I do not like is the attempt to deify this man and treat him as a savior. With the ridiculous countdowns and breathless anticipation of the inauguration it seems like the extreme left has lost their collective minds.

I find it interesting that there has been little discussion on the expense (especially to the taxpayers) of this inauguration and its surrounding activities. The figures for are:

Obama 2009: 150 million + (expected to exceed $160m)
Bush 2005: 42.3 million
Clinton 1993: 33 million

This inauguration will cost FOUR TIMES more than the 2005 affair. I think that this is irresponsible and arrogant on the part of the Obama Adminitration. He has already claimed that we are in an economic crisis. I would not be surprised if many on the left take the position that this will be a net benefit to the Washington economy. After all, isn't massive government spending their solution to a bad economy? (Someone ought to remind them that the massive goverment programs of the New Deal did nothing but create confusion and fear and a depression within a depression.)

Nevertheless, the American press has decided not to make this an issue, though the rest of the world seems to enjoy poking fun at the latest example of "American Excess."

Of course, I am certain that we will not see the media uproar as we did in 2005. Media outlets went out of their way (with justification) to bring the cost of 2005 inauguration to the attention of the American public.

four times the bush inauguration, and five times the clinton inauguration. that's about $1M per year more over a eight year span between bush and clinton (we'll call that inflation), and now suddenly BOOM! it is disgraceful! $100M would have paid an awful lot of salaries for an awful lot of people needing jobs!!!

new money attitude when we're all sinking. thanks a lot.:sad1: pompous, arrogant jerk.

wow...news was just talking about bin laden and the speculation that he could possibly be....D E A D. :scared1:

It's also funny how his base, er, I mean "The US media" hasn't noticed this "nuanced" change in O's position (even though it was from a CBS interview). We gotta hear about it in the London Times!

I predict that their "filter" will be in place during Hussein's entire political career.

Let's just "hope" that it only lasts 4 years with his last two years being irrelevant due to Republicans regaining congressional control. ;)

GUESS WHO IS GLENN'S FIRST GUEST ON HIS NEW SHOW MONDAY?!?!?!?!?!?!

SARAH PALIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :yay: :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I noticed during the campaigning that anything remotely resembling straight-forward journalism regarding Obama came from the UK news outlets....maybe that is where I'll have to draw my news from for the next 4 years.

I absolutely cannot stand the man. I can't like someone whose political beliefs include murdering the unborn, and leaving them to die should they survive the abortion. I can't like someone who thinks it's A-okay for kids to get abortions without their parents' consent. Those two things alone are complete deal breakers for me, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

What cracks me up is that BO was suppose to elevate our country in the eyes of the world, yet it seems that elevated ridiculing of the US is just beginning, with the obnoxious, disgraceful, circus and spectacle of an inauguration about to take place.

Too nice of words, but the appropriate ones aren't allowed on a family friendly board.

I'm guessing he had a heart attack when Obama won and he thought that Super O would be ringing the doorbell of his cave any minute!!! :lmao:

I was thinking that if he is dead, I'm sure that Obama must somehow be able to take credit for it.

The defense is already being put out there... It's: "Since everyone wants to come to this event, it'll naturally cost a lot more!!!"

Well air is still free, so I can't see justification for quadruple the expense, regardless of the crowd size.

Hey guys, staunch Lib here, but I hope you dont mind if I come over here and ask a questions.

What do you think of the new Hannity show on Fox? (Without Colmes)

I am a news hound, and jump all over the spectrum. I actually watch a lot of Fox. I liked the new show, Hannity can handle his own show, but I hated the set! It was just a huge distraction.

What did you guys think?
I really like Sean, but haven't had a chance to watch his show yet.:thumbsup2 I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Get used to it, we're going to hear nothing but how wonderful Obama is for the next four years. He's not black, he's not white....he's TEFLON!!!!

Like someone else said, those words are too nice. I can think of a whole lot worse but naturally they can't be posted here.:rolleyes1 Just use your imaginations.
