Fun day today!

My daughter sings with the Alaska Children's Choir, and they were asked to sing for the Alaska State Stamp Ceremony, and Governor Sarah Palin spoke. Afterwards, my kids got to meet her. It was great fun...worth getting up in the -38 temperatures...

Deb EXCELLENT pics of Governor Palin!!!:goodvibes What a great way for you guys to start the New Year!! So sorry you're all freezing up there though!! Yikes!!

Wonderful. And yours? EPCOT on Christmas Day wasn't too bad; at least I didn't think so. Did you guys stick around for Illuminations? I watched from the Italy pavilion.
We watched IllumiNations from Japan. I really hoped I could get to meet up with you but oh well.... perhaps sometime next year.:flower3:

I think Soarin's down for the count - here it is:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2043803

And your siggie pics are beautiful...
You're darn right I was down for the count! I was snoring at 10pm Central Standard Time last night!!:lmao:

I heard on the news this morning that Obama's are staying in a hotel for $20K a night!

Oh wait!!! Let me say it first..........

It's Bush's fault.
:sad2:

MY Starbucks could probably run on my business alone!!;) That is my contribution to helping the economy!!
My weekly trips to Books-A-Million are my contribution to the crappy economy!!:lmao: Between the books and coffee I'm out prolly $40 a week in there...
Well, in the spirit of our sister thread:

1,476 Days!!!!!!!!

till Obama leaves office. :)
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's count it down, shall we??:thumbsup2

My countdown-

15 DAYS TILL GLENN'S SHOW STARTS ON FOX NEWS!!!!

Ok..... done shouting.:lmao:

Wow! I go away to visit family and you guys start a whole new thread!!! I'm not even going to try and catch up.

Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and a safe and Happy New Years!

Mine was cheerfully politics free, I don't think we even watched the news more than a couple of times-and that was to get the weather and tide info for the beach!
Missed you! Glad you had a great Christmas!!:yay:

Hey to you creative and funny people --

Going to WDW in less than 3 weeks!!!! And can't seem to stay away from the computer for all the planning- fun fun fun fun!!!
Here's to hoping I get to see you!:hippie: :hippie: I'll be informing you of my place of work.

Happy New Year all! We're back from Christmas and family trip to Virginia, complete with family drama. Hey, wouldn't be a family trip without some drama, would it?

I like the bus song for Obama! Seems to fit in nicely, esp. after the Richardson announcement.

School's back in tomorrow-back to the grind!
We had family drama galore at WDW. It's all going in the TR.... gah, if my mom knew I was gonna tell you guys, she'd murder me.....:lmao:

The wedding is in Tuscany. DD and her fiancee decided.... instead of a huge wedding...they would rather have a smaller wedding in a fantastic location.
Wow!!! Awesome!!!

And I'm the opposite. I don't want them going back to school. I like them home on vacation. I miss them when they are gone - tomorrow will be a hard day for me. I don't go around moping that they aren't here, but it's hard for me to get back on a schedule.
Send it here. I want a snow day tomorrow.

I will miss sleeping in....I love to sleep in. I also wont miss all the Homework my 7th grader brings home...So YUCK!!!!

As for Israel and Humas.....I'm on the side of Israel. And no matter who is at fault war sucks and there is always innocents involved in being killed.

And as for Gore....like I said I pay him no mind. I do however listen to both sides/points of views from the Scientists. Those that say it is true and those that say it is not. There opinions I way...not Gores.

I say thumbs up to a cleaner planet :thumbsup2

wowwwwwwww!!!!!!! that will be STUNNING and EXCITING!!!!

It was one night in a reception hall with 200+ people...and they wouldn't remember who was there....or a week in Italy. Same price. Wasn't much of a dilemma for them. It actually cost more to have a ceremony and reception at WDW.

My theory is that they think Israel is being excessive, and I can see their point. Then again, they're wrong. Israel is well within it's right. Are they going a little far? Maybe. But they still do not deserve all of this scrutiny. The terrorists should be chastised even more. The facts are that they attacked first, and Israel used this as justification to go after Hamas.
I'm just sick of Israel being chastised for defending herself. I'm sick of seeing muslims here in the US demanding that the US stop giving aid to Israel. (Right. But we're supposed to help you?) It was all over the news last night.
I think the difference between Israel and hamas is that hamas targets the innocents...the Israelis don't.

probably because israel is oficially the "state of israel" and was united nations-given. it is the nation state for jews. in the hebrew bible the "land of israel" was God given. arab neighbors, based on boundary, religion, and the mere right for the state of israel to exist, has been the cause of dispute and wars ever since partition. because it was palestine which was divided in order to create the region known as the state of israel (later the country), they are particularly unhappy about the situation. that and that israel has tested and moved the boundaries along with declaring their independence, continues to cause conflict.
I say God takes precedence over the pointless pantywaist UN, in my book. ;) I know that you don't think that way, though, so no offense meant. ;)
To me, from what I've read, the arab neighbors refuse to even let Israel exist. They don't just want "back" what they consider theirs (land), they want to wipe Israel off the face of the map.
The Holy Land was inhabited by Jews and Christians long before the muslims invaded. They can't consider it as belonging to them because they weren't originally there (that would be the Canaanites, who were not muslim). :confused3 It's not their homeland. If they feel they have the right to be there, why not peacefully cohabitate?

Yeah, I'm not saying I agree with their assertions, I'm just saying that's what they think. The problem is that many people say that war is never the answer. Give me a break. I practice peace in my everyday life as a Christian, but I don't expect governments to have the same philosophy. It's not only unrealistic, but national suicide if one decides to follow it. When it comes to Muslims, they are just not listening to reason at all. Their people are being attacked, and that's all they need to know.

Now, I feel like I only talk about politics here. I'm fun, I really am. Is anyone excited for Lost to come back?

well God didn't give israel an actual country, but the UN did and it was quite recent; 1948 i think. (not offensive at all...i was brought up in the episcopal church and understand religion and find it fascinating, it just didn't stick in the spiritual sense.) but this would be like any other land or country in any part of the world which evolved well past its origins thousands of years ago. otherwise england might still be part of the holy roman empire. i was just answering why some people are so opposed to israel defending itself. it is religious and geographical and historical, and israel is seen by some as a bit pushy for not finding the area appropriated to them for their national state as sufficient. and then there are those who'd like to blow them right off the globe.

the gaza strip was under a sort of general administration for five years, ending in 1999, and during that five year period the ownership of the strip was to be determined, but it never was (duh...how ridiculous that in five years this was to be accomplished after thousands of years of war between arabs and jews.)

by the looks of it, hamas, which now controls most of that tiny little gaza strip (except for air space and waters at the coast still managed by israel) launched...what....90 missiles into israel on 12/25? first of all, i don't think the date was an accident. second...90 missiles? and they're gonna just sit back and have a snack? i think not. especially since they controlled all of gaza through 2005, and it was only in 2007 that hamas took control.

this is gonna go on forever. and now we will have a president who, allegedly (as seen in photos), has no problem with the PLO. also because of this i do not find the timing accidental. joe biden said bho would be tested, and i think this is part of the test.

yup. and therein lies the reason bho will/must only last four years. iran, a nuclear country, feeds hamas. with zero experience managing anything, bho is likely to crumble under the pressure of trying to please everybody, and we're gonna need somebody with strong military experience in office to make up for bho's ineptitude. i never thought i'd say this in a million years, but thank goodness hillary has some knowledge of foreign affairs.

we need to promote a conservative congress next time 'round to help rectify the mistake made in november.

now, back to important things...i was soooo looking forward to "superstars of dance". what a disappointment. i've switched to reruns of house.

I don't agree that war is never an answer. The Bible doesn't even say so (Ecclesiastes, anyone? :) ).
The problem with the radicals is that even if everyone left them alone they'd still attack us and Israel.
I read a very interesting book called The Enemy At Home: The Cultural Left and It's Responsibility for 9/11. Anyone else ever read it? In the words of Mr. Spock: Fascinating. The author talks about why the radical muslims hate America and he says it's nothing to do with our freedom or democracy.

Oh I KNOW who I want to be President in '12, and it sure as heck ain't Obama! :scared: In fact, this person I want running our country is not even an actual politician and has even been deemed "Unelectable".... you guys can figure it out.:cool1:

I have never seen "House." I've heard great things about the show though. I like Hugh Laurie.:thumbsup2

The wedding is in Tuscany. DD and her fiancee decided.... instead of a huge wedding...they would rather have a smaller wedding in a fantastic location.

Uh, TL, don't you need ANOTHER wedding planner? Or a cake cutter? Or a pot scrubber? Or a anything else for that wedding in Tuscany? :teeth: I'm real cheap! [er uh inexpensive] I'd pay my own way and just ride with the luggage or maybe on the wing or something...

That'll be gorgeous - hope your DD doesn't miss out on the enjoyment of it...and I'd love to hear the details, venting, etc in the months to come. Planning someone else's wedding is always lots of fun - my own :scared1: no thanks!

Wow. I gotta say, bravo. You hit the nail on the head. We need to be more green, but not because disaster is coming. It's because it's the right thing to do.

The problem is that the only way we're going to really save the planet is if we limit our consumption, and I doubt that's ever going to happen.

By the way, I want to volunteer to play this new Obama song on the guitar and record it on my computer. All I need is more lyrics.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Verse 3

The driver of the bus says 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!'

The driver of the bus says 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!' 'mow them down!'

Before the in-auguration...

hmmm...gotta think of some verses featuring key players....

Okay, how 'bout this?

Verse 4

Jeremiah Wright yells, 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,'

Jeremiah Wright yells, 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,' 'bleep that bus,'

O says Jeremiah who?

About Israel/Hamas - I'll take the most cowardly route here and say, 'yeah, what they said!'

I do believe that Israel plays a vital part in our future and that, despite the many attempts to annihilate her, God has kept her here for a reason. I also believe that, in partitioning land for Israel the state, countries such as Jordan were deprived of what was rightfully theirs. Did England do a good thing by giving Jews a homeland? Yes, but it was done by giving away something that wasn't theirs in the first place - but I'm not sure what could have been done otherwise? Maybe another area, like Nebraska? ;)

What's bothering me about all of this is the idea that Israel is the big bully here - Israel is tiny! And those she is fighting are terrorists! Our role with Israel has been to support her but also to pull her back, lest she become all the more enticing as a target for those who still desire to annihilate her. What will happen with the great unknown takes office? Israel has no clue, hence the attacks now, while she has a known ally.

Go figure, this teeny tiny country/state/what have you - still in the news after 6000 years....while the biggies like Greece and Rome blend in the background.

*I am debbieandroo and have no idea of I should support that message.* But there it is....

:lmao: We went to see a comedian at the casino last spring (can't for the life of me remember which one...might have been the guy who opened for Ron White) and he said that he was freezing to death up here, having come up from SoCal. He said this is the difference between SoCal and Washington:

Washingtonian: "It's 65* outside! Break out the frisbee! Honey, have you seen my shorts?"

SoCalifornian: "OMG, it's 65*! Somebody light the fireplace! Honey, have you seen my parka?"

Ayup. That's about the size of it. :lmao:
LMBO!!! Oh my gosh! I laughed so hard after reading that because it's so TRUE. We have our heater on tonight, but I'm not going to tell you what the temp is..... :rolleyes1

10" vanilla cake with (I think ganache?) icing and strawberry mousse filling. It was from the Boardwalk Bakery and was served at Spoodles last Monday night. Very yummy.
Oh that looks so yummy! Drooling over here...

My BIL emailed me this, I dont' know if it's been posted here already:

Wonderlanne- I was really disappointed in the Superstars of Dance, too. You really can't compare certain dances (apples to oranges). At least US, Russia (though I hate to admit it) and Australia had some variety, instead of using the same style of dance. I do love Irish dancing, though. That judge from Argentina needs to go.

Blestmom- I will keep your step-dad in my prayers  . I hope it continues to warm up for you guys.
