Can you all tell I come bearing good news? Well, I do! My mom made it through her first surgery this morning fine, although she's still a little woozy from the anesthesia and sedative they put her on. The surgeon had the area looked at under a microscope in the OR immediately, and he said there was no sign of a mass and, as far as they could tell today, it was non-cancerous!

They'll still send it off to be tested at a lab, but he expects it to come back fine. Praise God, is all I have to say. I was so worried she'd have to deal with this on both sides. Thankfully, it doesn't look that way.
Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts. My mom doesn't use computers really, but I've told her about you all and she has been so touched that y'all care enough to pray and think positively for her. She wanted me to thank y'all for her. It means a lot to her.
Mr Man, I loved that prayer you posted. I'd never heard of it before. I used it myself last night.
I'm hopeful that everything continues to go well, and that the surgery on the 23rd to remove the cancer goes well. I'm still praying she won't need chemo. The surgeon and radiologist said no, but the chemotherapy doctor gets final say. She meets with him tomorrow, although they won't know anything anyway for sure until after the surgery.
You and your mom will be in my thoughts and prayers. I have a friend/co-worker who was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago, and she was about 40yo at the time with two young children. She did require surgery, but did not require chemo, and did have the radiation for five weeks. She's doing quite well, and barely missed a day of work during her treatment.
I think I missed your original post, but I'm assuming it's the same thing with your mom? It truly should be a quick procedure tomorrow, but I know that doesn't lessen the worry or the stress.
Almost right! She has the main surgery on Jan. 23rd. Today was a surgery to remove the second area on her other side that they thought was suspect. They couldn't get it with a normal biopsy because it was so tiny (it was a cluster of calcium deposits, which can sometimes be a sign of cancer), so he went in and removed the whole (tiny) thing today.
Thanks for telling me about your friend. That's about what they've told my mom to expect too. I'm glad your friend is a-okay now. I'll keep her in my prayers nonetheless.
Speaking of Panetta, did y'all hear the real reason he was chosen? Because no one else wanted the job! Also, the first guy offered the job, John Brennan, was too closely allied with GWB's post-911 policies [the ones that have kept us safe?]. And he was closely allied because he had a little experience?
It'd be funny if it was....

I have two friends who work in intelligence. They can't talk about work, but they have both been in a very foul mood ever since Pinetta was named.
Now pinch hitting for Bill Richardson at Commerce..... Former Time Warner Chairman and CEO, Richard Parsons. Parsons looks a little lost out there. Is he up to the task? He's running to third.....uh....he doesn't know he supposed to hit the ball first.....and then tag first and second base before going to third? He'sssssssss Out!!
On deck...CNN Journalist, Gupta, as Surgeon General. Gupta hits one up the middle....oh no....he stops for the camera and is out at first base.
Oh joy. Time Warner ran the Braves right into the ground when they took over as owners. It'll take years probably to get the team back into contention. If he was involved in that fiasco in any way, beware folks.
hrmm...DH just sent me the email about the military special Disney is offering this year to all active duty military....apparently he wants to try and figure out a way to go.
If we do figure out a way to swing it...I'm gonna be calling on ALL of your help to plan it. I haven't been there in 15 years

and last time I was there I was with my mouseketeer friend, so I did things most people don't get to do. I've never stayed on property either but we'd likely do POP since it is most affordable. DH and I aren't big on paying for hotel rooms when we only plan to sleep there.
Soarin' how long are you there??
I can help with dining! I've eaten at a ton of WDW restaurants, and can give plenty of advice on that. The others' suggestion that you look into Shades of Green is a good one, too.
I just got that e-mail as well and came here to see if anyone was posting about it... I don't know, but for some reason I am hesitating. I think I would be more eager to join if it had come from Palin. I was never a big fan of McCain and now I really think his time has passed.
I will have to think on it and learn more about it.
I gave McCain my time, some of my money, and more importantly, my vote. That's all he's getting from me. I sucked it up and voted for the man, but I will not continue to support him or anything like this if he's promoting it. I don't trust him, never have and never will. He can go sit on a tack for all I care, much like Huckabee and his Huckabee PAC.
Sorry, I'm in a snarky mood today.
