Ha ha ha ha ha, yes, stopping is a problem at the bottom of my hill as well. I can't believe they canceled school tomorrow as well.

Wow, I can't imagine being up until 3 or 4 and then having to get up with kids. That's amazing! It's nice to know there's at least one night owl around to talk to. :thumbsup2 :cool1: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cloud9:  :worship: :cheer2:

Well, where I'm at, canceling school is a no-brainer. We have lots of these twisty curvy, hilly roads out here, no snow plows, and the county seldom bothers coming this far out with the sanders. When they do, it's usually sometime around lunch time. :lmao: My road is solid compacted snow and ice right now. No way a bus is going down that, even IF they would brave that S curve at the top. I'd rather they canceled school than did the emergency bus route. That entails me having to drive UP (then back down) the hill and curve, to meet the bus at the fire house at the top. I don't do it. When the district calls to say it's on the emergency route, I call the school and tell them if the bus won't come down my road, that's a good sign that I don't need to try to go up it either. They always excuse my kids' absence on those days.

Oh and btw...it's snowing again, and it's 19*. :scared:

Our mayor sold our snowplows a couple of years ago. Guess he figured they weren't worth the trouble? :confused3 so basically the whole town shuts down for about a week when we get any kind of decent snowfall.

I always wondered about how the whole snow route thing worked. If the bus can't go up it, why would they think the kids and/or parents can go down it?:confused3

My road will be covered for the next 3 weeks. It melts soooooo slowly, time can do so much... sorry, gotta stop listening to music as I type these things. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think it's just being cold here, but I'm not sure.

Don't look...you don't wanna know. My friend was telling me today that it is supposed to stay like this until Christmas day, and rain then. Great. That's just going to make one big slushy mess, which is worse than snow. And if it freezes that night we are REALLY in trouble!

All I can say is that all of this better be over and done with by Jan 18th because I don't really want to walk to Sea Tac but I WILL be getting on a plane to go meet my hubby in LA that day, no matter what!

I really wanted my kids to go to school this week, too. I'm not done wrapping their Christmas presents, and they are nosy little boogers who randomly get out of bed at all hours of the night. In fact I just had to get up and go creeping through the house a few minutes ago because I heard singing. It was my daughter, who is up for who knows WHAT reason at two in the morning. Maybe cuz she takes after her night owl mother?

I know... I told my parents tonight that I was going to do my best to be on that train on Saturday, but that was contingent on me being able to get out of my house! Otherwise, they'll have to live without me for the holidays. :scared1: I think it's supposed to warm up to a nice balmy 40 degrees when Christmas comes. Ugh. That'll be lovely... I can't live without my YakTrax, they are like tire chains for your shoes. They give you great grip on the ice! Better than golf shoes!

Um, so how early would you have to start to walk to Sea tac? :rotfl: :rotfl2: How long are you going to LA for? Are you going to hit the Land? I think that's when my parents are going to be down there. I of course will be taking care of the dogs at home....:headache: :headache: :headache:

Uh oh, they're sneakers, eh? I think I used to sing at night too. It must be a night owl thing. :dance3: :woohoo: The only good thing about them having no school these last two days is that they have to go to school later in June, which means if I want to go to WDW for my birthday sans children, I get an extra couple of days to do it! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Prayers going out to those that need them. ((hugstoo!))

I can smell bread, and some crazy dog is making snow angels! LOL

Well, yesterday was my first day back from recall.. today?

SNOW DAY! LOL 8-12 coming down right now. Looks like the entire state from 1/4 of the way down all the way to the state line is closed. Even my local district called, and they don't call very often for snow because we need it for the icy back road days. A bus can go through snow, it can't go through ice rink. DS is happily watching tv, while smiling occassionally as he looks outside. :)

Good morning!

We're having a snow day here too.

well...lets see. Monday we had sub-freezing temperatures in the 20s, and very light sleeting...Tuesday it was in the 40s. Today it is in the 60s. Tomorrow the high is 72, then Sunday we should be in the upper 30s. Seems the weather can't decide what it wants to give us this Christmas!

Ok I gotta get back to work. I've been here an hour already and gotten basically nothing done, which is pretty tough to accomplish when you're in an office without anyone else to disturb you....it's all the DIS' fault!

I hate my golden retriever.... we're trying to get rid of that pain in the butt. She's eaten everything in our yard! She even ate my mom's porch swing! Chewed it up and ripped the cushions to bits! We need a smaller dog.

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
I LOVE my golden retreiver.
They do need a lot of attention though
Please dont get rid of her
it takes about 2 years for them to settle down

Ok well as of right now, I'm your daughter. We both get benefits.:cool1:

I'm all worried now because I've seen several people posting about Norwalk at WDW. I had a run-in (or walk-in, I guess I should say:lmao: ) with Norwalk last month and..... I had diarrhea every twenty minutes for six hours!!!!!!! I hadn't eaten since 4pm the previous day or otherwise my roomie would've been running for the door :scared1: . I dry heaved and my head pounded and my stomach cramped and I was miserable for 12 hours straight. I cannot repeat this experience at Christmas! And my sis had food poisoning last week and we all know what that entails.... my mom had the stomach bug earlier this year and we DO NOT need to get it at WDW!!! I'm freaking out!!!!!! It might sound silly but prayers to keep us well and out of harm's way (and that those who are ill are quickly better) would be appreciated.:flower3: We've been planning this for six months and don't want it all to go down the toilet (no pun intended).

I sure hope you don't get it againg. one time was plenty for me. They finally gave me visteril (spelling?). Wow, that shot hurt, but I couldn't keep vomiting like that or I would have been admitted. I'll be praying for you guys.

There's always Norwalk at WDW, or anywhere else where there are a lot of people. Wash your hands often, use hand gel often. Try not to touch things that other people touch and then touch your face.

I'm always amazed when I'm in line and I see some child with his/her mouth on a rail. I'm thinking :scared: :scared: . What are their parents thinking??

The thing that always gets me is how people race out of restrooms without washing properly. Waving your hands under the water for 5 seconds isn't going to cut it. That's Commando Disney that can really hurt you. Take the 30 seconds to wash your hands properly, it's not going to make that much difference in how long you wait for the next ride.

I see this in so many places. I was actually surprised at the number of women that did wash, but DH said that only about 1/2 the men did.:scared1:
I do use the gel after touching anything community when we are about to eat. I keep thinking about :scared1: when I use the condiments, buffet utensils, etc that even though my hands were clean before, I don't know if the other people washed before touching.

:scared: I've seen this as well. As a 'germaphobe con' :teeth: , this makes me  . My sis brings slippers with her for everybody because she doesn't want to walk on the carpet in the rooms with bare feet. That's something I never thought of before, but I guess even the carpets can be gross if you think about it.

Speaking of gross stuff: (please scroll away if sensitive)

Today I got my first experience of real mommy grossness. DD had the WORST diaper blow-out I have ever seen. :scared: Who knew that the contents of a diaper could defy gravity and travel upwards? :confused3 I don't understand what happened.

The funny part is I wasn't sure how to handle it. :rolleyes1 I had to think about how I was going to, um, rectify the situation.

It was a mess. :rotfl2: I'm laughing now.

NJ snow report- no snow yet :wizard:

You are absolutely right and we always wash properly.
However, is it only me that wishes they could bring back the powdered soap?
Now that really felt clean!

Oooops :o I'm a bad weather reporter con, just looked outside so I'll try again:

NJ weather report:

A few flakes spotted (although they could be my neighbors ;) )

Temperatures in the low to mid freeze your tush off :cold:

My kids are happily playing Wii. Today would have been a total fluff day at school with "holiday" parties and a sing-a-long but they still act like they got a get-out-of-jail-free card. It's cute. :lovestruc

Darn weather. I was supposed to have a girls day out with my friend. She was going to go with me to visit the puppy I'm getting the kids for Christmas. The breeder lives in a small town with the most charming downtown area about 45 minutes from here. We were going to make a day of it with lunch and shopping and everything. Now we're each snowed in at our respective homes, watching the kids play video games.

We just watched 2 cars get stuck in the snow in the exact same spot in front of my house. The second car was my brother (he lives 2 houses down). We laughed ourselves silly, especially when we saw him trying to shovel himself out of the spot, cursing the entire time. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Blah! I don't think we're ever gonna make it out of here. Long story short, we're still in Ohio and we should be at least half way to FL by now. :surfweb:

Ah well, maybe tonight. Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better now. :goodvibes

Now that you mention it, I did like that stuff. It felt like it really scrubbed the dirt off. It also MADE you wash right, because you had to get all that stuff off!

I think the stuff they have now is like the antibacterial gel-better for the people that rush out without washing properly I guess.
