Conservative Thread: We cannot do everything at once, but we can do something at once

Exams went well, I think. I had my psychology one today, so I'm done!

Tests told them zip other than they needed to do more tests. They could only be used to rule out cysts, and what they're looking into turned out not to be that (which is what her DR had told her anyway, that it wasn't one, but she thought she was okay anyway). They found something else though that they want to test too. Biopsies are next week. I am praying hard, but trying not to worry too much right now. Won't even know anything until sometime after Christmas because they require everyone, no matter what the results are, to come in for an appointment that they won't even make until whenever the results come back (which should be after Christmas). This is because all but one doctor has, as of Monday of last week, gone on vacation for the remainder of the year. So, some people are having to wait a month or more just to have the testing done. That is a complete joke, IMO. No places of employment I know allow all of their main employees but one to take almost an entire month off at the same time, and they're not dealing with health issues!

And this is a hospital branch site we're talking about, not just a doctor's office.

I'm so sorry. How horribly frustrating.

Unfortunately, it's very common for the good doctors to go away for the holidays and leave things up to the residents or other staff. I'm having trouble getting into my neurosurgeon because of this. Doesn't make it any easier when you're waiting on test results.

I'm waiting for him to read my MRI images. I've been waiting two months for the analysis. Come to find out USPS lost them and no one bothered to tell me they never got there... So I've been waiting for nothing. Sigh. Now it's so close to Christmas, I'm probably going to be waiting another month or so.

Yup, I feel like I'm stuck in the Canadian system. Sigh. If anyone really wants to know what socialized medicine is like, I can tell you right now... waiting, waiting, waiting.

But this guy is the best. So, I will wait. It's not easy, but what choice do I really have? I sent another copy overnight, so it will be there tomorrow morning. Hopefully he'll have time to look at it, but I'm afraid I'm going to get chucked into the pile with all the others...

For those of you who slept through World History 101 here is a condensed version.
Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic
hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and
would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the
winter.

The two
most important events in all of history were:

1. The
invention of beer, and

2. The
invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer, and the

facts formed the foundation of modern civilization and together were the
catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct
subgroups:

Conservatives.

Once beer
was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture.
Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early
humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed
close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed.

Some men
spent their days tracking and killing animals to BBQ at night while they were
drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative
movement.

Other men
who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the
conservatives by showing up for the nightly BBQ's and doing the sewing,
fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal
movement.

Some of
these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as
girlie-men.

Some
noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention
of group therapy and group hugs, the evolution of the Hollywood actor, and the
concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide all the meat and beer that
conservatives provided.

Over the
years, Conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land
animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the
*******.

Modern
liberals like imported beer (with lime added), drink Jack Daniels, but most
prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi,
tofu, and French foods are standard liberal fare. Another interesting
evolutionary side note: most liberal women have higher testosterone levels than
their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys,
engineers, dreamers
in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals.

Conservatives
drink domestic beer. They eat red meat and still provide for their women.
Conservatives are big-game hunters, scuba
divers, bankers, rodeo cowboys, firemen, golfers, lumberjacks, construction workers, directors of sales,
medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, and generally
anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other
conservatives who want to work for a
living.

Liberals
produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to
do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than
Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when
conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was
tamed and created a business of trying to get more for
nothing.

Here ends
today's lesson in world history.

It should
be noted that a liberal (you know who you are) may have a momentary urge to
angrily respond to the above; to defend their untenable
position.

A
conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this
history that it will be forwarded immediately to other true believers, and to
more liberals ... just to make them mad.

Good Morning All!

I had to laugh about the practical presents. My poor DH got all kinds of grief from friends the year he bought me my Dyson. But it was what I asked for! I LOVE that thing. One year I got a Kitchen Aid mixer, and I nearly always give him a list of the new and exciting kitchen gadgets I've seen and would love to own. Hey, I buy him power tools, why are kitchen "tools" a bad thing?

Oh my! What kind of shampoo do you use? Maybe you should try baby shampoo for awhile? I also don't wash my hair every day or it dries out too much. That might help too. I have really dry/sensitive skin. I can use Aussie products without any trouble, am currently using Joico products (because I have a perm) and also like Shikai products.

I use Aveda, which is supposed to be very good, but it's also VERY dry here. My DD is having problems too.

Do you use those deep conditioners?

How often do you wash your hair? My hairdresser told me only to wash my hair once a week. I couldn't do that [mine is pretty oily] but I did stop washing it as much - every other day or every third day.

I normally wash my hair every other day. Sometimes it's every day. I'm going to switch shampoos for a while and maybe that will help a bit (and FTR, my whole body is dry - my hands are cracked and peeling, so it's not just my scalp).

In light of the brrrrrrrrrr temps we've been facing, I thought listening to 'The 12 Days of Global Warming' might be appropriately ironic...

I almost asked my father for decent mixing and storage bowls for Christmas. I called him back and said, DON'T! I'll end up hating myself afterwards for asking for only practical at my age! LOL

I'm a practical gal - I'd much rather have something I can use than jewelry. I need to get over that though.

I love practical presents. As long as I get chocolate in my stocking, I'd really rather everything else be something I can and will use, but would normally not buy for myself. That bakeware is perfect for me. I actually already have the blue glass baking pan and pie pan, and I have a set of three graduating blue glass bowls, plus an extra one of two of the sizes. But I agree; who can't use another casserole? When I make lasagne and shells I always make at least two and freeze one.

The kicker is that I collect cobalt blue glass. A whole matching set of cobalt glass bakeware makes me wanna do that happy dance.

I know, I'm such a dork.

One year my hubby bought me a new mixer for Christmas. Came in a hard case that keeps all the attachments together and everything. My dad told him he was soooooo going to be in the doghouse. But I loved it!

I wish they would be read today, but I had to send an alternate copy yesterday because the first one didn't get there like it was supposed to 2 months ago. Would have been nice if they would have told me right off that the films didn't get there... but I digress. I sent the new copy overnight, was supposed to be there by 10:30 am today. Not going to happen. My films are stuck in Louisville, KY! Why on earth if you knew there was going to be adverse weather in the area and you had stuff that NEEDS to be delivered would you fly it there? I mean, common sense would say to deliver it elsewhere. So who knows now when it's going to get there. I'm so upset right now.

I jumped in, but it's kind of useless. It's not like anyone is going to change their minds, or even see that they're doing the same thing with The One that they accused people of doing with President Bush.

Yeah, you've been putting up the good fight. I've noticed the last couple of days. Unfortunately after awhile they just kinda drain all the energy out of what could be a good debate. I'm all for discussing topics but when it digresses from a respectful discussion into crybaby tactics about how the right just doesn't treat people fairly, you begin to realize that it is a hopeless cause to try and argue with someone who has the reasoning skills of a toddler.

It still is tough to resist though I cave in from time to time.

Hello all! It is crazy here with it being the last week of school before Christmas. DS has a book report due, complete with diorama tomorrow, so we're finishing it up.
