Just wanted to say a quick "hi."

I went skiing this weekend in Breckenridge and had a blast! I think I represented my Florida heritage well by falling every 10 feet. Afterwards, the group I was with went back to our host's condo (which resembled Disney's Wilderness lodge!), where I soaked in the hot tub outside, overlooking the mountains, with a big, fat La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero. It was a wonderful weekend.

To all who will be attending MouseFest, I hope you have a great week. The events sound like a lot of fun. Maybe next year we can do a Dis-Con Stogies Around The World meet!
Sounds like a great time and thanks for the Rush quote.
Oh gads you guys...since "floppy ears" has been brought up I gotta tell you guys this. It was terrible.

My mother came over on Sunday to watch my kids while I was at the charity benefit. I've told you guys before, that she is an OS, bless her little old lady heart. So we're chatting when I got back and she tells me that she wants my husband's address so she can send him a care package. Okay fine. So then she starts telling me what all she wants to send him...including this copy of the Rolling Stone because it has this really great article about Barack Obama in it, and maybe it will change his mind about some things.   And did I know, they were talking about it in this article, that McCain is really just a mini Bush? That he has this powerful family that pretty much bought his way into the fighter squadron even though he kept wrecking planes, and that he has a vicious temper and a little man complex? I just stood there staring at her. Finally she said "Well, don't you think he'd be interested in reading it?"

So I asked her if she thought I should buy her best friend (ULTRA liberal, thinks the sun rises and sets on Oprah's fluctuating backside) a copy of Rush's book for Christmas. :rolleyes1 I think she got the point.
I'm sorry Michelle, but your mom sounds clueless. I'm glad you brought up Rush to her so she could get the point. Hope your son is feeling better.

I have nothing to add but,
happyhappyhappy!!
Ouch! I'm so sorry about her nose! Praying for a fast and speedy recovery for her.

The arrogance of most of the people in the Chicago political system truly astounds. I heard on the radio where he essentially dared them to listen to his phone calls. Ask and ye shall receive, ya moron. :rotfl:

Congrats Debbie! I'm glad it's all working out for you.

A little note from my end asking again for everyone who is so inclined to continue praying for my family member who's having testing done later this week. And pray for worried me too.
You betcha.

I'm making a quilt (well, trying to) and my machine keeps jamming. I have only 3 blocks left to sew and I can't figure out why it's jamming. I'm supposed to have these done by my class tomorrow - looks like it's not going to happen. Oh well.

Anything interesting on the CB tonight?

Well, the fun has begun. I used to cringe when the news would come out about wrongdoing from yet another Republican, over and over and over. It's starting with Blagoyavich. Hehehehe.

Well, the fun has begun. I used to cringe when the news would come out about wrongdoing from yet another Republican, over and over and over. It's starting with Blagoyavich. Hehehehe.

Isn't life grand?

I'm sorry Michelle, but your mom sounds clueless. I'm glad you brought up Rush to her so she could get the point. Hope your son is feeling better.

Thanks, Shaun is feeling just fine. He felt fine when I picked him up from school, he was just an unholy mess. Fortunately the nurse had warned me and I took a change of clothes to the school so I didn't have to put him in my car like that. :scared:

You know...what so WEIRD about my mother and her OS-ness is that she is actually brilliant and really well read. I'm choosing to chalk this up to a well deserved case of mild dementia due to a combination of 71 years, having to raise three of us, and having to deal with my dad every day, who is like having a 6'4" five year old sometimes. :lmao:

A couple of years ago she bought my husband a book by Alan Alda. He stared at her pretty much like I did on Sunday and then said "What the h*** is the matter with you???" :rotfl2: I can't decide if she's really trying to convert him or if she's trying to irritate him. Never gonna happen on the former, not really working on the latter either. He just laughs it off.

Just in case that whole halo imagery thing from the Obama art had them thinking their party representatives actually DO walk on water....:rolleyes1

:dance3:

:yay: Yay!!!! I'm happy for you!

To all those sick

And to those taking care of the sick :grouphug:

Yes, my mom should be in that category- she informed me that my sister has food poisoning, of all things. I am so glad I am not home right now!

You sound like my husband, Soarin. I thought of him when I went to pick Shaun up. He can't cope. If he'd had to pick the boy up, he'd have thrown up all over the nurse's office and the nurse would have been cleaning up after both of them. :lmao: Whenever one of the kids is sick he comes running for me. I've tried telling him to deal with it, but he always wins because I'd rather clean up after one than two.

have y'all seen this web site? i heard janet on the radio tonight talking about the citizenship issue.

forgot to mention: there is a video of cabinet member richardson on this site, speaking in spanish, saying obama is an immigrant. THE GUY'S OWN CABINET MEMBER!!!

Hi y'all. Good news/bad news

Good news: My daughter's cheer team won 1st place at their competition this weekend!

Bad news: Her nose was broken during the practice right before they competed. She was a trooper and did compete. She's a base and the flyer slipped and her foot hit Rie right in the nose. The doc said she may or may not need surgery. We have to wait 10 days to see if her septum moves back into place after the swelling goes down. As for the break, it should heal fine on it's own.

OUCH - a broken nose AND a cold at the same time -- I was whining when I had a cold and I didn't have a broken nose. She's my she-ro!

News for today:
The Government is looking at taxing cow flatulence!

EPA's Air Pollution Target: Flatulent Cows
Agency May Tax Livestock Farms For Greenhouse Gas Emissions; Farmers Furious

MONTGOMERY, Ala, Dec. 5, 2008

For farmers, this stinks: Belching and gaseous cows and hogs could start costing them money if the federal government decides to charge fees for air-polluting animals.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/12/05/tech/main4651448.shtml

Two things --

1) will the EPA start fining for flatulent dogs? or people? 'cause I know some folks who will be in a lot of trouble then!

2) this kind of thing, along with that ethanol garbage, reminds me way too much of what Robert Mugabe did to the farmers in Zimbabwe - not literally burning them but figuratively -- I hope there's a big outcry against this type of demagoguery

Hey guys, Illinois Gov. Blagojevich — a democrat — was arrested by the feds this morning at his home on corruption charges. He's part of the Tony Rezko scandal that many of you will recall incuded allegations of corruption by Barack Obama. Apparently the feds moved in because there were some shenanigans going on in his selecting the replacement in the Senate of Obama — Blagojevich tried to "sell" the seat to the highest bidder, apparently. This is the political environment our new president comes from. Buckle up. It's gonna be a bumpy ride!

This guy is guilty of so much - where would anyone begin to indict him? It reminds me of Al Capone being picked up for tax evasion. And have you heard what the Libs have said about Patrick Fitzgerald? When he went after Scooter Libby, he was their hero. Now, uh, not so much....;)

NO KIDDING...I love my steak, and no PETA people are gonna tell me I can't have it. I am all over that (@#*$&)$@# organization.

We have 2 dogs and they stay in the backyard...one of them will bark at pretty much anything that moves....like....leaves. Needless to say Nanook is not the quietest dog in the world, but there are lots of dogs in the neighborhood so it's no biggie. I came outside one day mid-afternoon and there were PETA pamphlets plastered on my front door, apparently because I'm being cruel to my dog by having her outside....on a perfectly sunny spring day in Texas. Anyway, There was a number for a PETA headquarters on the pamphlets so I called them and told them that if I caught them on my property again I would shoot first, ask questions later, as per the castle doctrine in Texas, I viewed them as an imminent threat to my home, property, and safety.

:worship: :worship: I'm so glad I'm on your side! That PETA thing happened to a friend of mine who had her dog in the backyard - she didn't use a gun but the effect was still the same ... boy was she mad and good for her!

Control. Exactly. Because they want power. And it's hard to have power over free people, so take away their liberties under the guise of "saving the planet" (and who wouldn't be in favor of that?!), and presto! You've got power. Global warming enthusiasts hate freedom, and they hate productivity that results in personal wealth. Free, wealthy people are so darn hard to control. They tend to drive away while you're flappin' your lips. In their big SUVs.

Yep, that's it in a nutshell...

Don't drive it, though. Not because of pollution but because it sucks gas like barbra streisand drinks the blood of virgins.

Make that Conservative virgins!

Had to post this again -- way too funny!

Breezy and T&G- you ladies outdid yourselves!!! Wow!!!!! BBQ just happens to be one of my favorite kinds of food!

Of course it is - you're less than a day's drive from Memphis! Where the best barbecue is. :snooty:

I have news.. yes.. GOOD NEWS!!
HR called me. It doesn't get approval until the board meeting on the 17th *night*, but on the 18th (for two days) I have a job as the ELA interventionist for the remainder of the school year! Yes... that means my benefits are back! I've been saying major prayers before each hockey game.

ELA interventionist probably means no classroom and a floater, but I DON'T CARE! I don't know the school, either, but I DON'T CARE! The answer to my prayers just floated down! THANK YOU, GOD!:worship: :cheer2:

woo-hooo!!!!!! :dance3: :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo:

ya know -- when you mentioned last week about going back to school, I thought 'I bet now will be the time Debbie gets called back to teach' but I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to get your hopes up. And I'm glad MM asked what an ELA interventionist was 'cause I didn't know either.

DD and I have a sewing class tomorrow, so I have 16 squares to make. I'm having so much fun with it! Using a sewing machine is so much fun - (yes, I know - it's sad that I'm 38 years old and I'm just now learning how to use a sewing machine). :) The boys are watching old Rescue Heroes videos - gosh, I love those toys. Wish they still made them - my four year old is obsessed with them. Thankfully, we kept my other DS's toys (he's 9) so his little brother could play with them. THey are such good toys with a good message.

Have a great day!

I love my sewing machine, too! And I didn't learn how to use one until I was past 30 -- then I started quilting. Unfortunately, the DIS and Sarah Palin have really cut into my sewing time but, one of these days, I will actually finish those many projects I started so long ago.

So, I'm home to walk the fuzzy diva at lunch, like I do everyday, and I got Fox News on. They are talking about closing Gitmo and what to do with the terrorists there.

My mind immediately comes up with "they can apply for a teaching position at UIC" (University of Illinois at Chicago).

:rotfl:

:lmao: what's funny is that the seller had to explain it -- heee

Oh gads you guys...since "floppy ears" has been brought up I gotta tell you guys this. It was terrible.

Yeah, and I would so trust Rolling Stone to tell me the true story about McCain - that was a great response to your mom :thumbsup2

You should buy it for her anyway.
When I was at B&N the other day an Obama Lovers group was monopolizing all the stuffed chairs. They were teens. They just sat around in a group talking about how wonderful he is.
Right before it started the adult leader of the group told an elderly woman in a very snotty tone of voice, "These seats are taken. We're holding them".

Again, the party of compassion strikes again -- :sad2:

Do any of you recall that Michelle Obama got a $300,000 a year, made-up vice presidency at the University of Chicago right after her husband was elected to the Senate and promised to earmark $1 million in federal funds for the hospital (which he did)? How is that any different at all than what Gov. Blagojevich was arrested today for doing — trading in political favors for personal profit? Really, how is it any different?

I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!!!!! The difference is - Blago must have run out his political clock - he's no use to Dailey and Obama anymore so he can be discarded. Or maybe he knows too much and has loose lips. Did you hear that he dared the feds to tap his conversations? So they did! :rotfl:

However, there's still a lot of mileage left for that Obama train to do some good for Dailey and the rest of the Chicago political machine. But if Obama doesn't toe the line, watch out - talk about a bumpy ride...the only thing is, we'll have to ride with him :sad2:

Talleyrand is one of my favorite historical figures-so diabolical and filled with self interest. A quote from Talleyrand is apropos when posting about floppy ears.
Floppy ears can have an impact on my life whereas Talleyrand is dead and gone-thus the reason one can be a favorite and one I abhor.

Sounds like a guy I need to know more about....

I feel your pain. I had three home today, throwing up, one was dh. No fun. No fun at all.

:grouphug: I'm so not the motherly type - God did good by not letting me have kids....

Please post pics when you're finished. And I think there's a rule about the machine jamming when you're just about to finish a project.

Well, the fun has begun. I used to cringe when the news would come out about wrongdoing from yet another Republican, over and over and over. It's starting with Blagoyavich. Hehehehe.

he he he is right - but have you checked out some conservative sites? They're playing 'name that party' - apparently the MSM is neglecting to point out that this is a DEMOCRAT who is doing this....

A couple of years ago she bought my husband a book by Alan Alda. He stared at her pretty much like I did on Sunday and then said "What the h*** is the matter with you???" I can't decide if she's really trying to convert him or if she's trying to irritate him. Never gonna happen on the former, not really working on the latter either. He just laughs it off.

Reminds me of my mom when I was growing up -- no matter how detailed a list I'd give her for Christmas, it was always socks and underwear....now, as an adult, that doesn't sound too bad...but Alan Alda!

Yes, my mom should be in that category- she informed me that my sister has food poisoning, of all things. I am so glad I am not home right now!

And that would be me, too - you're a good woman, Michelle. Funny thing is -- if the dogs throw up or worse, I'm okay. But if I'm around a person doing this, it's quite another story.

When my mom told me, I felt my stomach lurch. Ugh!!

Ok, enough of that.... two weeks from tonight I will be in my mom's van on my way to WDW!!!:dance3: I wish I had a Fast Forward button 'cause I'd zoom on ahead to then!

I'm just the opposite with my DD. I can hold her hair back and cool her with a washcloth. Let anything or anyone else puke & I run & gag. Fortunately, DH is a paramedic and is used to most of it. Even he gagged though when DD got food poisoning.

I noticed they were not telling his party when I got the news updates on my phone. But, I got busy and forgot. I'm glad to see I wasn't imagining things.

Interesting.

Bush Says Creation 'Not Incompatible' With Evolution
President says in televised interview the Bible is "probably not" literally true and that a belief God created the world is compatible with the theory of evolution.

WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush said his belief that God created the world is not incompatible with the scientific theory of evolution.

In an interview with ABC's "Nightline" on Monday, the president also said he probably is not a literalist when reading the Bible although an individual can learn a great deal from it, including the New Testament teaching that God sent his only son.

Asked about creation and evolution, Bush said: "I think you can have both. I think evolution can -- you're getting me way out of my lane here. I'm just a simple president. But it's, I think that God created the earth, created the world; I think the creation of the world is so mysterious it requires something as large as an almighty and I don't think it's incompatible with the scientific proof that there is evolution."

He added, "I happen to believe that evolution doesn't fully explain the mystery of life."

Interviewer Cynthia McFadden asked Bush if the Bible was literally true.

"You know. Probably not. ... No, I'm not a literalist, but I think you can learn a lot from it, but I do think that the New Testament for example is ... has got ... You know, the important lesson is 'God sent a son,"' Bush said.

"It is hard for me to justify or prove the mystery of the Almighty in my life," he said. "All I can just tell you is that I got back into religion and I quit drinking shortly thereafter and I asked for help. ... I was a one-step program guy."

The president also said that he prays to the same God as those with different religious beliefs.

"I do believe there is an almighty that is broad and big enough and loving enough that can encompass a lot of people," Bush said.

When asked whether he thought he would have become president had it not been for his faith, Bush said: "I don't know; it's hard to tell. I do know that I would have been -- I'm pretty confident I would have been a pretty selfish person."

Bush said he is often asked whether he thinks he was chosen by God to be president.

"I just, I can't go there," he said. "I'm not that confident in knowing, you know, the Almighty, to be able to say, Yeah, God wanted me of all the other people."

He also said the decision to go to war in Iraq was not connected to his religious believes.
"I did it based upon the need to protect the American people from harm," Bush said.

"You can't look at the decision to go into Iraq apart from, you know, what happened on Sept. 11. It was not a religious decision," he said. "I don't view this as a war of religion. I view this as a war of good, decent people of all faiths against people who murder innocent people to achieve a political objective."

He said he felt like God was with him as he made big decisions, but that the decisions were his.
"George W. Bush has to make these decisions."

Well, the fun has begun. I used to cringe when the news would come out about wrongdoing from yet another Republican, over and over and over. It's starting with Blagoyavich. Hehehehe.

Isn't it nice to hear the real story finally!?

re: ayres - "don't know him. never talked to him."

re: wright - "wasn't listening to him."

re: blogoyovich - "didn't talk to him.'

hmmmmmm..........
Hmm indeed!

Just got in from hockey practice. The roads are HORRIBLE! That being said, its really sinking in.. WE MADE IT! Never missed a mortgage payment, never missed *ok, never 30 days late* with a bill, family fed, kept them in their activities... WOO OHOOOO! As to what my job actually is, the more I think about it the less I know. THe title has "my job is being paid with title one funds" written all over it - which means, it could be anything. I know the district just got another batch of money released to them. I'm just extremely happy! The school is in a worse area than where I was, but I can make a difference anywhere!

Prayers out to those who are sick and caring for the sick. I see FFM posted the flu. Hopefully this north wind will kick it away from our house!

Deb>> When DH was going to work today he said he knew I'd be called back today. This is the same person who has been talking doom and gloom so much I stopped listening or I'd go insane. (ok, I admit it, I was going insane!) God listened and answered.

Thank you to everyone who prayed and kept me sane!:cloud9: :grouphug:

Cool. :thumbsup2 That happens to be my long held belief. I do not believe that creation and evolution are mutually exclusive. I believe that God created a system that is not static, but is constantly "becoming."
