He's beside himself in glee! Seriously. Its been rough here. We had just hit up his 401k. You know those retirement funds that lost half their value? Things/communication should be much more calm around here, if you kwim.

happyhappyhappy!
I know what you mean. It's rough when you need a two-income family but only one of you has one.
Wish I could go back to simpler times....*sigh*

DD and I have a sewing class tomorrow, so I have 16 squares to make. I'm having so much fun with it! Using a sewing machine is so much fun - (yes, I know - it's sad that I'm 38 years old and I'm just now learning how to use a sewing machine).
I don't know how to use one either. I have asked for one, though.

They're talking about Blagojevich on the news here; I wonder if bo will say, "That's not the governor I knew"? :rolleyes1
And they mentioned bo is meeting with al gore for a possible cabinet position...change indeed. :snooty:

I have news.. yes.. GOOD NEWS!!
HR called me. It doesn't get approval until the board meeting on the 17th *night*, but on the 18th (for two days) I have a job as the ELA interventionist for the remainder of the school year! Yes... that means my benefits are back! I've been saying major prayers before each hockey game.

ELA interventionist probably means no classroom and a floater, but I DON'T CARE! I don't know the school, either, but I DON'T CARE! The answer to my prayers just floated down! THANK YOU, GOD!:worship: :cheer2:

That's wonderful!!! I'm very happy for you! :yay:

I reread, and in my excitement I didn't explain that I'd still have the job from Jan-june. The two days part is due to Christmas break. This also means I get paid for Christmas Day and New Years. Yes, we've lost half my pay this year, but... WE MADE IT!

*huge giant sigh* Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Ok, I'm hungry now!

Yay, you!

Activists Promote 'Call in Gay' Day

http://news.aol.com/article/activists-promote-call-in-gay-day/271704

A snippet from the article:

Scott Craig, a fifth-grade teacher at Independence Charter School in Philadelphia, had no problem requesting and being granted the day off. So many of the school's 60 teachers were eager to show support for gay rights they had to make sure enough stayed behind to staff classrooms.

About 25 teachers plan to take Wednesday off and to have their work covered by substitutes while they discuss ways to introduce gay issues to their students and volunteer at the local branch of the American Civil Liberties Union, Craig said. A letter telling parents why so many teachers would be out went home Monday.

"We want to get the conversation going in the community that gay is not bad," Craig said. "For kids to hear that in a positive light can be life-changing."

They are focusing their efforts on volunteering on that day - I'll give them credit for that. I don't like the fact that they are taking their politics into the classroom though. As a parent, I'd be a little more than annoyed with this - that's a vast understatement.

So, I'm home to walk the fuzzy diva at lunch, like I do everyday, and I got Fox News on. They are talking about closing Gitmo and what to do with the terrorists there.

My mind immediately comes up with "they can apply for a teaching position at UIC" (University of Illinois at Chicago). :lmao:

That's why my children will be home-schooled or sent to a Christian school.

Congrats to her team! What a wonderful accomplishment! On her nose... not so good. I hope she feels better soon. That is great she can do her classes by eschool. AWESOME!

I saw/heard this a few days ago. I couldn't stop laughing. I agree with Mobley's statement at the end and it is exactly what DH and I said.

Glad he was caught!

LMAO!!

Yes, Please!!

Rush's Morning Update: The Gift
December 8, 2008

Very important message today, my friends. Every Christmas, American men agonize over finding that "just right" gift for the special woman (or women) in their lives. Through trial and error, some men have learned what not to give. Ironing boards and vacuum cleaners are out, no matter how useful they might be. Chia Pets: out. And the old standby from past generations -- a beautiful set of pots and pans -- will likely land upside your head.

But this year, there is a unique stocking stuffer for that special woman in your life. It comes from Planned Parenthood of Indiana: a gift certificate that can be used for any of the organization's services, from health screenings to birth control to... abortions.

Betty Cockrum, president of Planned Parenthood, Indiana, says the Christmas abortion program targets low-income women. "When women are strapped," Cockrum says, "they're more worried about putting food on the table and gas in the car." With a gift certificate, the abortion-budget worry is off the table.

So, dad, you want to impress your daughter? Naughty or nice, give her birth control this Christmas! And for your wife, your lover, or even your one-night stand, give the gift of abortion! It's one gift that can't be re-gifted or exchanged; an abortion is forever.

Remember, absolutely nothing says "I love you" like an abortion. So this season, celebrate the birth of Christ with an abortion from Planned Parenthood. Merry Christmas to all!

Just wanted to say a quick "hi."

I went skiing this weekend in Breckenridge and had a blast! I think I represented my Florida heritage well by falling every 10 feet. Afterwards, the group I was with went back to our host's condo (which resembled Disney's Wilderness lodge!), where I soaked in the hot tub outside, overlooking the mountains, with a big, fat La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero. It was a wonderful weekend.

To all who will be attending MouseFest, I hope you have a great week. The events sound like a lot of fun. Maybe next year we can do a Dis-Con Stogies Around The World meet!

Worst. Stocking. Stuffer. Ever!!! :scared1:

Then again, this will help take their minds (and shattered nerves) off of all those "rogue" nativity displays in Government buildings.... ;)

I am going to hug my boys tight when I get home. :thumbsup2

Nothing says Merry Christmas like the gift of baby killing.

I hug my 10mo DS every time I read about someone having an abortion. Makes me ill.

If you get a chance, listen to Rush's delivery. It is funny and shocking.

Hi guys! Well, I was going to escape and go have fun today, but unfortunately my son threw up on the bus so I had to go pick him up the minute he arrived at school. Poor kid. He's not sick. I think it was my fault. Bad mom. He was poky eating breakfast and had to run for the bus, and he had on a fleece sweatshirt and his warm jacket. Heater was on in the bus...little boy does NOT do well in an overheated vehicle. I think between the running on a full tummy and getting too warm, he was doomed. :sad2: It's hard with him in the winter. It's too cold outside to go without a jacket, but the driver keeps the bus really warm. This has happened before. I told him today that he should take his jacket off on the bus. He'll probably forget it about every other time, but better that than getting sick.

I made myself an eye appointment today...haven't had one in about 25 years. :rolleyes1 I got awful headaches this past week when I was working on jewelry to donate to our charity benefit, though, so I think it's a good bet that I'm going to need glasses to do the small work. Stinks getting old.

Hi y'all. Good news/bad news

Good news: My daughter's cheer team won 1st place at their competition this weekend!

Bad news: Her nose was broken during the practice right before they competed. She was a trooper and did compete. She's a base and the flyer slipped and her foot hit Rie right in the nose. The doc said she may or may not need surgery. We have to wait 10 days to see if her septum moves back into place after the swelling goes down. As for the break, it should heal fine on it's own.

Well :cheer2: on the win, but sorry she broke her face! Poor kid! Hope she heals up on her own and doesn't have to have surgery to fix it. What a trooper, though. Good for her.

Or my big dually Chevy quadcab with a 454 engine. :rotfl: It's bigger than an SUV.
Don't drive it, though. Not because of pollution but because it sucks gas like barbra streisand drinks the blood of virgins.

You gots duallies? WoooOOOOoooooo! :lmao: Come on out, we gots great powerline roads. ;)

I have news.. yes.. GOOD NEWS!!

I think some of our Dis libs should volunteer to sponsor them at their homes. Let them sleep on their couch, babysit the kids, etc. I mean after all, these are the warm, fuzzy, cuddly sort of terrorists. Not the type that would want to hurt anyone ;)
