That banning the nativity thread is giving me a :headache: It's like shouting at a brick wall!!!!

this is for all of those smelly tourists who offend Harry Reid so much --

LOL!!! Priceless!!

Jack update:

I picked up a little bed for him on Black Friday. It's so small, a loaf of bread won't fit length-wise in there...

I want Jack.

It's going good. I've got all the messages ready, and just a couple of days ago a friend who has a scrapbooking story sent me a huge package with scrapbook supplies, so I'm working on putting it all together.
I think this is so cool that you're doing this. Is it too late to send a message?

Have y'all heard that the Capitol Visitors Center (in DC) is finally open?

MANY years late and nearly NINE TIMES OVER BUDGET!! at 621 MILLION!

Also, they (whoever built or designed it) made a "mistake" and chiseled in stone our nations motto. "E Pluribus Unum". Oooops. That's not it.

This thing is a joke. It's underground (so Harry Reid can't smell the tourists) and supposedly you can't even get into the rotunda any more. Wow.
I actually felt sick to my stomach reading this. Our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves now.
Yes, for a couple of years, studying for the Diocese of Orlando. Now, I am in Colorado Springs with a fellowship program (John Jay Institute) and am bound for law school in the fall, hopefully Pepperdine.
Good for you. I hope things go smoothly for you.

Good afternoon everyone! I'm lazy today but I need to get hopping. Anyone watching the Big Three on TV today? I can't bring myself to watch it. Being in Michigan with a ton of family members retired from the Big Three, I'm very worried about what's going to come out of all of this.

Off to cook up some pierogies - I'm starving and they sound really good today.

Food in general sounds good. I actually think some latkes sound good right now.

Maybe I've got my tin foil hat on too tightly, but I get the distinct feeling that "something" is up re homeland security. I've noticed more talk about troop deployment in the US lately, going as far back as September.

From a September 2008 Army Times article...
Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

It is not the first time an active-duty unit has been tapped to help at home. In August 2005, for example, when Hurricane Katrina unleashed hell in Mississippi and Louisiana, several active-duty units were pulled from various posts and mobilized to those areas.

But this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.

After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission, expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty brigade will take over and that the mission will be a permanent one.

I know that the government doesn't always tell us the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I wonder what kind of civil unrest, terrorist activity, or whatever else might be on the gov't radar. :confused3 Hopefully it's nothing at all to be concerned about.

Let's hope not.

I haven't made them in forever. I don't think I have any potatoes or I'd make some.
Dang, now I really really want some!!:dance3:

I fear there actually might be reason for concern. I've heard this kind of chatter on other message boards I frequent. From many different sources. Hearing it here as well makes me even more nervous. The chatter I hear is all about chemical or biological attacks. Not comforting thoughts. Not comforting at all.

Soarin' --I watched A Christmas Story last night...twice. That is my all-time favorite Christmas movie. I could watch it on a loop for days.:goodvibes

I've had emails about troops being called home to a base in GA to deal strictly with civilian unrest. What would cause the civilian unrest, I don't know but I'm hoping that it's not terrorist attacks on a large scale.

I have a huge craving for potato pancakes right now! OMG those look good!

I know originally some of us were thinking this was election related. Is it now moving towards another source? Scary, anyway about it.

Is that next to the gumdrop patch? :lmao:

Right at the base of Candy Mountain!

Our sensitivity comes from unfriendly lurkers-turned-posters and those who demean on the CB. :flower3: As long as you're friendly you're welcome.

:lmao: :thumbsup2

I was going to say something similar in my rambling response last night, and ended up backing it out and sticking to what little point I was making. She's absolutely right, though. Sorry for the tension both ways, but we're kind of used to drive-by shootings regarding our points of view and beliefs. You don't have to go into lurkdom, nor do you have to fit a particular mold to post here. Goodness knows I don't (and I'm not entirely sure anybody here does) and they haven't kicked me out of the clubhouse yet. We just prefer that people can be polite about disagreeing, and your first post had the potential to be read as (yet another, old and tired) an insinuation that conservatives are uncaring people who don't want others to have access to healthcare. :flower3:

What both of them said! (as I spend my entire afternoon watching big three begging and I'm on the big three side) They still let me post and I feel like a complete member. My membership card doesn't even have a big oval F on it or anything. I'll even send you some shiny balls as a members gift if you'd like to stick around.

Good morning friends! Whew, just read back tons of pages to yesterday afternoon. I'm exhausted already.:) I see we've had alot of "visitors" who seem surprised at the comments from us conservatives, ON a conservative thread.:rolleyes1

Anyway, I appreciate all the warm comments regarding my scrapbooks of family & friends.:goodvibes

I just uploaded another book that I made three years ago for my friend Suzan, who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is a young mom, and was going to be facing surgery and radiation. It is done in the traditional style of scrapbooking, with alot of inspirational thoughts, prayers and well-wishes. If you'd like to take a look, here is the link.

http://creatingmagicalmemories.shutterfly.com/

It is titled Suzan's Journey Book 2005. If you know anyone who is facing a difficult time, making a book like this doesn't take alot of time, and is truly appreciated by the recipient.

I don't remember if I posted this yesterday, but your books are gorgeous! The Birthday book brought back so many memories of my own DD!

:guilty: Uh-oh.

Just finished reading it. Looks like a bait from the start. Since I don't know any Christians who have a problem with symbols from other religions or cultures, I just don't understand why my Symbols of Christmas must be thrown out. It wouldn't be CHRISTmas w/o them!

I would say if it's enough to make them post troops stateside like that, then it's probably serious.
Maybe zombies! :scared1:
