Conservative Thread: U.S. Steele - Back In Business

OK, so I went to go find an Inconvenient Book today for the trip down to my parents house tomorrow on the train. Do you think I could find it? Not until the 3rd store I went to and it happened to be a used copy.

At one store I counted 9 books about Obama. No Ann Coulter, no Bill O'Reilly, no Glenn Beck. NOTHING. Not a single conservative author in the bunch.

So at the third store, I go to buy it and I happened to know the clerk from a few years back. The clerk looks at the book and asks me why I picked this one. :confused3 What on earth do you say to that? I just mumbled that a friend recommended it and I listen to Glenn all the time. I'm sure I wouldn't have been questioned at all if I had bought one of the zillion Obama books they had there.

I am viewing myself less and less as a Republican. The party is leaving me as they become more and more liberal.
Same here. Unfortunately there's no conservative party. But maybe people like Michael Steele, Sarah Palin, and Bobby Jindal can steer the ship in the Right direction. :thumbsup2

Thanks MM and all for continued prayers.

She got her test results today from a nurse because the doctor didn't bother to show up and went instead to another of his offices. Umm, okay. :sad2:

Anyway, the doctor (via the nurse) recommended chemo because she's "intermediate risk" according to this test. Said it'd help "a lot", blah blah blah. The testing company, however, and the actual results in their flipping hands say otherwise about the chemo risk and benefits. I guess it's too much to ask for them to go over that part of the report, and to be forced to find the information from the test report on the company's website as we did this afternoon. Can you tell I'm angry and very upset about all this? :sad1: Basically as I thought all along, she's a guinea pig and I am ticked off. :guilty:

The company breaks down all of the scores and such, and with the range she is in they say it's a complete guess as to whether to just have pills or chemo and pills. Breastcancer.org says the same thing. They don't know. Research is so new, it can "go either way." It could help cut down the risk by 4-5%, or it could seriously harm her by up to 5%. Because of the range she's in and the risk factors, if she gets chemo she could end up with serious, fatal heart problems and/or leukemia, or just less serious issues. The average benefit of chemo in her range is a negative (negative!) 3%. And yet the doctor says, yup, it's up to you, but go ahead and get it? This is because (here's the guinea pig part) they randomly assign patients with the medium risk result to the trial conditions of pills or chemo and pills. How the heck is a negative 3% benefit helping "a lot"?

She doesn't know what to do, but is leaning against it. They want her to decide by Saturday. Uh, yeah, that's plenty of time to get a second opinion. I hear a quacking noise, and it's not Donald Duck. :sad2:  :headache:

 I haven't been on much, but I haven't forgotten to keep praying.

I also saw on TV last night that 76% of people, both Dem and Rep, think that we are relying on Government too much. It at least shows a glimmer of hope that people get it.

Crossing my fingers...

Chuckle time. :teeth:

An older couple were lying in bed one night. The husband was falling asleep, but the wife was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk. She said: "You used to hold my hand when we were courting."

Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep. A few moments later she said: "Then you used to kiss me." Mildly irritated, he reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep.

Thirty seconds later she said: "Then you used to bite my neck." Angrily, he threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed. "Where are you going?" she asked.

"To get my teeth!"

:rotfl2:

I accept that he is the president. However, I do not agree with his policies.

:thumbsup2

My sister forwarded this onto me and I thought it worth sharing with my DIS Conservative Friends.

Obama Decrees: Massive Immigration of Hamas Refugees from Gaza
by Lou Dobbs

Obama has signed a presidential determination allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States. Sure, what can go wrong when we allow hundreds of thousands of people who have been, as Mark Steyn memorably described, "marinated" in a "sick death cult," who voted for Hamas, and 55% of whom support suicide bombings live here and at the American taxpayers' expense:
By executive order, on January 27, (Federal Register on February 4) Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in urgent migration assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza to resettle in the United States.
Few on Capitol Hill took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006 at US taxpayers expense.

Let's review some of Obama's most recent actions since he was inaugurated a little more than two weeks ago:
• His first call to any head of state as president was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.
• His first one on one interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.
• He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted.
• He ordered all overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.
• He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and 9/11.
• Today we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to and live in the US at American taxpayer expense.

So We can't pay our own bills. Our economy is dying, hundreds of thousands of people are losing their jobs, and now we will pay to move terrorists and their supporters to live free in our country? What about the thousands of our brave soldiers who gave their lives to fight these terrorists? Obama insulted the Medal of Honor Award winners at their Inauguration Ball by being the first President in over 40 years to not show up and now he inviting their very enemies to come live in our country at our expense? Why not just send all of our weapons over there and allow them to kill us now? It will be less painful!
Now you see why the founding fathers wanted to protect us from a president with devided loyalties! Now do you see why congress and the Supreme court should have made Obama show proof of natural born citizenship.

"The times are dark, the spirits of ruin are abroad in all their power, and the mercy of God alone can save us."

"Our reliance is the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is the preservation of the spirit which prized liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors. Familiarize yourself with the chains of bondage and you are preparing your own limbs to wear them."

:sad1:

Hi, everyone. I haven't been on much. It's been busy around here with migraines, traveling and still working on this house. I've missed keeping up on the dis, but I can't even begin now. I just kind of jumped in the best I could.

Am I the only one just noticing these banner ads for government grants? I KNOW it's a scam, but from recent conversations with "folks" around town, I think that a lot of people are seriously believing that Obama is just going to turn on the tap and let the dollars flow. One waiter at a restaurant told me that he was going to open his own dinner theater with all the money Obama was going to give him (he was African American). I thought, "You can open whatever you like, but good luck finding someone willing and able to afford to eat out after a couple more years of this". Shouldn't he be more interested in opening his own place up with his own money (or loans) and hoping people can actually afford to eat there? Or did that thought never cross his mind?

I am a disenfranchised republican. Leaning more libertarian, ready to become whatever the heck I have to be to not live fearing tomorrow's news (it's like Groundhog Day, but a scary one...). I like Palin, but I need more...I'm a kentuckian and I've voted for Mitch McConnell in every possible election since 1990 and I'm ready to spit. :sad2:

I think we can vote for the Red sell-out or the Blue sell-out. Everybody talks change, but it's such a joke compared to what the Founding Fathers had in mind for our country. Normal people serve for a brief period and then go home. Not this professional pan handler narcissistic mess we've got now. :headache: :headache:

And you may have gotten a dirty look for buying a book, but my poor little Mercedes station wagon (1999 model, paid cash for it in October- it was in great shape- only 150K- not a scratch on it!) got KEYED the first night I put my McCain/Palin sticker on it. I was at Chuck E. Cheese in the mall near the poor neighborhood in town. That's so classy. Hope and change, folks, hope and change. Do I sound bitter? :confused3

My wife works in a restaurant and most of the employees there are just like the guy you described. Everyone knows that she follows what is going on in our country and almost everyday she will have someone come up to her and ask her when Obama is gong to send them their money.

They all voted for BHO because they thought he was going to send them a big fat check and are really ticked off that they haven't received any money yet. One of them has a Vegas trip planned and is going crazy because she 'needs' gambling money!:sad2:

My wife's head is about ready to explode, but she is getting some satisfaction. Now she gets to tell them that they will be getting $13.00 a week, starting in April. She gets to see their reaction which is something like this :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: .

This makes my wife feel like this: :cool1:

They all feel lied to by Obama and the Dems as they expected much more than they are getting.

Hey, did you catch the AP article (I'm not smart enough to link stuff because I read it off my phone) where it talked about BO's radio address today and the fact that "average american families" would get "$65" per month. A little later in the article, it gave us the $13 per week figure. In my non-Ivy League educated world, that only comes to $52 per week. Who else is he counting in the "average american family"- the polygamist's second wife or the extra baby momma? :rotfl2:

How is it going to go down when all the Obamaphiles realize BO is just a puppet and has no power (because we all know how much he really WANTS TO) help any of these people in the first place. I feel bad. Almost. :hippie:

 I haven't been on much, but I haven't forgotten to keep praying.

Sorry about the migranes. I don't know how you are able to do anything! Migranes always put me in a dark room...under the covers!! Except...when I have to go to the bathroom to throw up. EEWW GROSS!!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

After, the "how can this not be a life" thread was hijacked and became the "unborn babies are parasites" thread (for real..not a joke)... I really, really needed a funny? Obamaphile...:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: This is my new favorite word. :teeth:

edited to add... $13*52 weeks= $676/12 months = $56.33 a month

That happened? How can people say unborn babies are parasites? I doubt they think that way about unborn animals. :sad2: Pro-choicers' arguments that they're not "for abortion" just went out the window, especially when you view the baby as a parasite.
Of course, I knew pro-choice meant pro-abortion because they're not okay with a woman who chooses to not abort, i.e. keep the baby or adopt it out. :rolleyes1

This just makes me ill.....all of this just makes me ill....I have always been a very optomistic person where DH is pesimistic...Obama and the Dems have me wanting to crawl into a corner and hids and take my kids with me. What is wrong with theses people...are they living in a different world than us...also the more of this that happens the more I wonder if he is the anticrist....so many followed this man and feel he can do no wrong...

maybe the 2012 prediction to the end of the world is not so far fetched :confused3

so know that I have made ya ll think :rotfl:

How many saw the snide retorts from the os....regarding BO raising taxes? It was on the "spendulus" thread. They said we were crazy. "Where did it say he was raising taxes? He's not raising taxes...he's cutting them. He would have cut them more if the Republicans would have let him.".:rotfl: Do they only believe it if the read it? (on one of "their" websites)

Of course, they will be happy business and the "rich" are the one's hit.

Wonder if they like Red Kool aid or the blue :lmao:

I think that he is so tired of fighting against the dems that have been holding up our budget that he is giving in. Also we are in such straints that any money we can get the better. Also ya know what they say...As Ca. goes so Goes the world....if Ca. fails so will the US and parts of the world.

We needed this stimulous to pass ...we are so broke.

But ITA that he is following suit with the DEMS....

And ya know what makes all this so bad...is that we all feel so helpless and that there is our words that we can use but our hands are tied.:sad2:

I'm keeping my eyes and ears open when it comes to him being an antichrist. We just don't know.
But just remember that in the end, no matter what he does, WE WIN. :cool1: God is in ultimate control and nothing obama does can change that.

American Pie? I wasn't born yet. :rolleyes1

I come seeking comfort.

Sweet Lord Jesus in heaven, Glenn Beck's War Room Special, Worse Case Scenario is scaring the living bejeezus out of me.

I am shaking.

I think I need to go find a Church, build a panic room and stock it, or just put a gun to my head. Any of those would work at this point. I am watching it now. It's 50 minutes into the show, and I pray that Glenn can talk me off the ledge like he's promised. Wow.

Do you guys claim the main the white house as potus?
I have determined not to use his name until he is voted out of office, nor will I capitalize the words white house or potus. He is not my president. He is merely occupying the space at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave for the next 4-8 years.

It never ceases to amaze me that all of my fellow Dems who accused Bush of being a rich daddy's boy yet floppy buys his office for half a billion dollars and he gets a free ride. Where is the same outrage that the war will be paid for by our kids when talking about his tranquilizer for the masses plan?

Well, he was fairly voted in by the people, so I have to respect that he's our president. But I don't feel this man represents me in any way, shape, or form. I don't feel like he gives a crap about me, either.

He is the POTUS but I'm not one bit happy about it.

 Prayers are all we have now.

Thanks, on the migraines. They are frustrating me. I get many of them, but I'm fortunate that some are what the doctors & I are calling functioning ones where I can still do some things. I have them 5-6 days/wk. Unfortunately, I'm getting the really bad ones where I am having to get an IV every week or two. They are trying a new med. It would help if I didn't have artery spasms and could take the triptans again. I may be going to Chicago to a clinic up there, but I don't want to go until it's a little warmer. Part of the problem now is that it is so cold and wet. The ice storm kicked my rear end bad on top of taking out the power for a week.

I've never understood the parasite theory, and I definitely didn't think it was the place for them to bring it up when the OP was so excited. Of course, many people put animals above babies.

:rotfl2: I like the math they use, too. As an accountant, I think I would be in trouble using theirs.

I've gotten where a lot of times I don't even try to answer their questions they post because they don't really want to know the answer. They just want to attack. One came up that I saw yesterday, but there was no use in even telling them why I felt the way I did since I knew they weren't really trying to understand. They just wanted to tell me and others with the same belief why we were terrible for believing what we did. I really like it when they decide that we don't even know why we believe what we do. We think it is one thing, but it is really another reason. Funny, I think I know why I believe in the morals I do.

I just watched it last night and all I can say is :scared1:

I think we need to remember that these were presented as "worst case scenarios". They said that we should prepare for the worst and by doing that we would be ready for anything.

It was a little sobering when he mentioned that during the break the guests said that they thought it would get much worse.:scared: :faint:

That being said, I was relieved that none of them believed that the military would be willing to attack their own citizens, if it came down to that.

I do think that it is smart to have some food and water in your pantry in case of emergency and we have done that. After watching the program, I think a gun would be a smart purchase as well, which is something we are considering.

We always have MRE's around. But, that is because DH gets deployed by FEMA if he is on the rotation when a disaster occurs or if he gets called up for SWAT here for tornados and ice storms. He saw what they use so he stocked up for us and they seem to last forever.

Yes, we believe in having weapons and ammo in a gun cabinet, but do not believe the military will attack us. It is some of the other stupid people running around that we worry about. I was amazed at the looting that happened around here with this last ice storm even. I know I shouldn't be, but I was.
