I know, some people need to look elsewhere for their fix. :teeth:

Yeah.... let's just put it this way. Don't call Glenn Beck a bigoted shock jock where I can read it (it wasn't posted to rile me up- just a lib being nasty when someone said GB explained the porkulus package really well and pretty much exposed the bill for what it is)- I'll reply and won't be nice about it. I'd likely tell them to go choke on that poisoned koolaid, and we know that wouldn't go over well. I think I told you guys once I'm very very defensive of Glenn.... so hold me back before I say something.

Ok..... done. I need to be doing my philosophy homework but I'm here instead. :teeth:

Evil draws men together. Aristotle, Rhetoric

I notice that a few of our house libs are pretty quiet tonight. There are the usual few that think we are all "chicken little" but not that many are jumping for joy and shouting the praises of this disaster.

All afternoon I have tried to talk myself out of panic mode. I know I need to be calm, I need to learn the facts, and then find a plan to deal with whatever is coming. But I also know that those who are defining this mess don't know, or care to know, how much this will affect the lives of our kids. I don't think they can see the bigger picture. At least not yet.

Do not panic. Whatever they do can be undone. They are embarked on the biggest overreach in the history of our country. It will fail all on it's own. IMO, it has already started. Just wait until all the baby boomers start retiring next year.....and realize they really can't.

somewhere in the ether Adam Smith is laughing.......

Now, if the market crashes down to 5k and our bond market crashes also.......THEN I think we should have a short panic attack....

and then get back to work.

How can you see the bigger picture through your rose-colored glasses?:confused3

:thumbsup2 Exactly the things I'm studying in this class. Tonight I have to argue for God's existance.... ummmm..... yeah. To me, He exists, but how to I argue that, is what I don't know.

Oo, oo, oo......in the middle of reading the Case For Faith by a former athiest. Full of good philosophical stuff.

Can I help? :hyper:

If you don't want to have a panic attack...don't learn the facts. I think, I'm getting an ulcer. I have a tendency to internalize everything. Cool on the outside and....tee'd off on the inside.

All we can do is hope for the best and pray. There isn't much we can do at the moment.

Obama says he wants bipartisanship? My grits!!

"We learn from those who believe, and become like them." Tolstoy

also, look at "Pascal's Wager" "We have everything to gain and nothing to lose".

Then read Thomas Aquinas - Summa Theologica. The Five Ways did it for me.

I am fairly pragmatic though.

:)

Thank-you Mr. Man. My head knows NOT to panic but my heart is - well I think- broken.

I am so very sad for my country. For my children, all of our children, who will deal with the ramifications. The high taxes, the inflation, the high interest rates. And IMO if that is all that becomes of this we are really lucky!!!!

The sun will come up tomorrow and my hope does not lie with government but with God. ( I hope you all will excuse me if I got too emotional here - it helps to type it out I think)

Ugh, Hannity just said that since LTEC Hussein't been elected, countries are releasing their terrorist prisoners. :sad2:

Did anyone else catch that?

I agree 100% with this but would like to add one thing. It seems like some libs feel since they won the Presidency and control of both houses that gives them the right to do whatever they want without question. They act like we should just roll over and take it.:sad2:

Well that is one thing I will never do. I am opposed to the policies of BHO and will speak out against them. I will be a thorn in their side each step of the way questioning each and every policy. I will also be there to say I told you so at the end when WE have to clean up the mess.

Uhhhh..... nothing.:lmao:

Well, it should be easy to get started then. The way Lee Strobel proves God exists is by taking the toughest objections to Christianity and interviews "experts" to make a case. (He is a journalist, can you tell? :rotfl: )

So, do you have to prove God exists, or can you tackle just one portion of it - like creation vs. evolution. He also has a book called the Case For Christ - but I haven't read that yet.

So I am watching this yawn fest and have one thought.....Can he even answer a darn question?
:confused3

I swear you could ask him any question, no matter what.

His twenty minute answer would be something like this:

Platitude, platitude..........blah blah blah........talk down to you........trivial falsehood..........trivial falsehood...........smirk.........um...um......lie...lie....blah blah blah.........failed policies of the last eight years........Republicans bad......platitude......i am so briliant.......I won I won nana-nana-boo-boo.......harrumph...harrumph... I am the smartest in the room.....um...um....deep thought...deep thought.....hail Caesar......I can do no wrong......blah...blah....blah......Yes We Can!

:snooty:

Since he won't take a followup question, I guess we will never hear the reporter ask him:

"What the hell are you talking about?"

:confused3

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

obamaLOL-1.jpg

That drove me nuts too. I just don't get the people that say he is such a great public speaker.

I do have to say that I got a call from my brother and his wife after the snooze fest ended. They were big Obama supporters, but now....not so much. They are tired of hearing about him and the more he talks, the more they tune him out. They said that they really made a mistake voting for him and apologized for giving me so much crap about my hate for the man.

Too bad that it is too little, too late.

I'm hoping that at the very least, he will not be re-elected if more and more people change their minds about the hope he offers...

:rotfl:

I like what O'Reilly said about Helen Thomas last night. He said "if someone would throw water on her, she would melt"!

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Also a couple of years ago, Glenn's Fusion magazine did a special Halloween scary issue with a photoshoped centerfold of Helen Thomas in a bikini.

:scared1:  :scared: :crazy2: :faint:

I can't remember if we have any Texans in here, looks like I'm probably going to be having surgery on March 25th, but will know for sure on Saturday when I talk to my endo. I want my parents to have some fun down in Houston, I don't need them sitting with me 24/7, it's going to be boring watching me try to do stuff with my nose packed with balloons. So, I figured I'd send them to Galveston for the day, but I see that it's going to be Spring Break during the whole month.

Is it really bad? My parents are 66 and 71, I don't think they'd enjoy having to fight through a bunch of drunk college students. Is there stuff they can do and enjoy down there? It's not really one of those places that we would seek out to go to, but we're going to be down there, so they might as well go. Thanks.

My David was a patient of St Judes for 7 years
It is absolutely the best place in the world.
We were always treated with so muck kindness and compassion.
I LOVE,LOVE St Judes
We were also the receipnet of Make a Wish (durning Davids first tumor)
He got to be the grand marshal of the parade at the MK
