You think you could take five minutes to come say hi to me??:flower3:

I don't think I can :guilty: We're staying off site, and my parents don't really get the "Dis" thing... If you were working in a park, I'd totally scheme my way to stop by though ::yes:: I'm coming down again at the end of the month. I might be able to scheme better then.

I thought about you all day. Glad you're still ok. I wanted to die the other day- someone had hurled in the Splash Mountain queue.:scared: The custodian had that sweeping compound or whatever it's called on the mess (the sawdust stuff) but it still smelled and was still liquidy....:crazy2:

You mean the "puke fairy?" :tink:

That's my parents. My mom is a moderate, leans somewhat liberal, but my dad.... wow, nice right-winger.:thumbsup2 My mom's parents are very right-wing too. My grandparents and I have great political conversations.

My Mom's definitely conservative, she's just a little more tolerable than my Dad. I think it's because my Dad joined the navy, put himself through school, etc. He hates the whole hand out thing and excuses. Growing up, there were no valid excuses. If you work hard in life, you can accomplish anything, it doesn't matter what your background is. But you can't expect other people to do it for you. He's proof of that and I think it really ticks him off to get where he is and then have people want to take all his money. :snooty: Not that he doesn't care about other people, but he'd rather give them a hand up than a hand out, know what I mean?? Where as my Mom is the same way, she's just not quite as rigid.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Cobra is expensive. My sister always has to go on it when she moves/changes jobs. She really cant' afford it but has to do it because otherwise she'd have a pre-existing condition and no insurance would cover her. She's just glad she still has the option to go to whatever doctor she wants and doesn't have to be wait listed and die while waiting which is what happens in countries with Gov't meant run health insurance.

I want to know why people think if the government runs health care it's "free". Do they not realize that it will most likely cost us MORE because it will be taken from our taxes?

 That would be LOGIC. Don't be silly! :joker:

Well cons, I've got about 5 hours before I leave for the airport, I'm wrapping up work, packing & shipping out! :drive: :beach:
I'm sure I'll check in once or twice before I leave, probably once tonight at the 'rents house and once tomorrow before we head to the mouse!! So don't be too sad about me leaving yet :flower3:

Well, it's 41hrs and counting....and noone's dropped yet! I'd be excited if it weren't for what my mom said. eek.

Doing lots of :laundy: with a mask and sunglasses on and washing hands a lot. Just thought I'd give an update for my own amusement :rotfl:

:crazy2: :hourglass :crazy2:

popcorn::

Having a great time in NOLA. I love what they do with Bloody Marys here......some kinda garlic/okra/horseradish type thingy that other places miss.

It is bee-oot-ee-full.

:)

Ya had me at the garlic and horseradish, but lost me at the okra....vile weed! :lmao: (ok, I know it's not a weed, but that's what I think of with that nasty stuff) ;)

I think that the banks that jumped into bed with the govt deserve what they get. I do think the govt. should put someone on the bank board and do this on the "up and up".

Ok, not so much on item 65. :)

I agree. But then I think of the commies...er...I mean dems fondness of incrementalism...slippery slope only because of that IMO.

SD - still praying!

ols - please ride soarin' for me!!! And have a blast at Disney! :goodvibes

Good morning everyone!

Oh. Well, I'll listen about the outsourcing, too. :lmao:

I know. The nearly clapping her hand over her mouth was priceless, too. You could tell she just wanted to slink under the table and disappear. :rotfl:
Did you see the lady next to her holding in her laughter?

Try number two.

My first post in the conservative thread was epic fail. So... here I am, ready to give it another shot...whatever the hell I'm supposed to do...

But if you want to make a shot at Negative Nancy, that I can do!
Welcome and join in! :)

Off to take care of three kids home today. One I think scammed me, but his grades are so high it will be okay. I'll put him to work helping me clean out the fridge. Someone, probably that "I don't know" guy or "Not me" spilled pancake syrup all over the fridge and it needs to be cleaned out. Blech.

Hey, those guys live at my house too! :rotfl:

oh-my-gosh, my co-worker just sent an e-mail to me filled with hilarious US political cartoons from overseas. Some of them are hysterical! Photobucket is blocked at work so I'll have to wait until I'm at home to upload these so that I can post them. I'll post them tonight - there's a few of you on here that I think will love them!

SD, both you and yor mom are in my thoughts and prayers.

:thumbsup2 By the way, any more thoughts on the golf outing?

well at least she's honest!

you guys are confusing me with the multiple open threads lol

so...how does everyone feel about obama limiting bank salaries?

I didn't read into it in any depth, but from what I saw of the idea it pertained only to the salaries of executives in banks that have accepted bailout money. I have no problem with that at all. If they can't maintain a solvent business, they shouldn't be "rewarding" themselves with cushy(er) salaries at taxpayer expense. :confused3

Breezy, hope the rest of you stay healthy, and your daughter feels better soon.

:thumbsup2 By the way, any more thoughts on the golf outing?

Well, my options will be as follows:

Get paid to go and play golf.

Get paid to sit at my desk and work.

I'm picking the golf option.. but people are going to hate me out there. I'll probably, as soon as it warms up a bit more, go and buy a cheap driver and start spending some Saturdays at the driving range close by my house. My goal: to be able to hit a ball off of the ground. I'll worry about distance later.

Did anyone see this?

Obama's First Tax Hike
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 7:42 PM

President Obama approved his first tax hike today.

The bill he signed to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program contains a provision to increase taxes on tobacco by a whopping 155 percent. That means the federal taxes on cigarettes have gone up an additional 61 cents a pack. This brings federal taxes on a pack of cigarettes to $1 per pack total.

(It also means the nation will need to maintain a steady level of smokers to subsidize kids health care, an unlikely outcome in light of a fledgling economy and increased taxes on the tobacco.)

Despite his pledges not to tax low-income Americans, Obama's tax increase on tobacco will disproportionately punish the poor, who are more likely to become addicted to cigarettes.

55 percent of smokers are considered "working poor" and one in four live below the poverty line.

“Tom Daschle and Leona Helmsley believe that only the little people should pay taxes,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “Obama agrees; he just raised taxes on millions of lower-income Americans. His central campaign promise was a lie.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been hospitalized for surgery of pancreatic cancer.

That Prop 8 thread is just about enough to make me ticked off. I think I better steer clear of that thing. :faint: I can't stomach the sickening game of the lefties pretending that google-map site is anything more than an intimidation tactic. I'm so darn aggravated at some of them!

*OK... feel better now... had to get that off my chest somewhere* :smokin:

Oh yeah, no chance of that happening.:rolleyes2

“Trust me. I’ve got a big list of names of mormons and catholics that were big supporters of Prop 8. … As far as mormons and catholics ... I warn them to watch their backs.”
