Are there set hours for these "Vacation Kingdom Lunch Vouchers?"

They don't appear to be a good deal for character lunches/buffets like Crystal Palace. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes there are set hours, and they vary form place to place so ask when you make your PS. you are also correct about the buffett prices. We only purchase the "lunch" vouchers for full service restaurants and only after checking menus to be sure what we want makes the voucher worth it. I have used it and saved money at San Angel, Rain Forest Cafe at AK, 50's Prime time and Cinderella's castle. If your order does not come to $25.00 before tax and tip then you really are not saving money.

I'm also lost with the Connections Vouchers. My husband will no longer help, can I use 3 lunch vouchers at the folowing resturants and get 3 full lunch meals: LeCellar, Mamma Melrose, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Brown Derby. If so ,it is an hunge saving when you consider eaach entree item alone at each of these places is generally over $15.00, sounds too good to be true. I am a native New Yorker and so skeptical !

NadineNurse,

The only vouchers you can use at the sit-down restaurants are the Vacation Kingdom Lunch Vouchers which cost $29.50 each. You can only use the $11.00 ("Quick and Casual Vouchers") at "counter service" type restaurants.

For LOTS of great information on using Connections Vouchers, go to the Connections area of Mousesavers.com

http://www.mousesavers.com/connections.html

Good luck!

Rhonda, thank you. I did go to that site before, but I still can not get it. We are going at the same time as you? 1/282/5, how do you think weather will be, okay to swim, so I will go back to WDWIG and look for all the counter service, will that include first coure, entree, drink and dessert ? Have a great trip and thanks for the advice:)

Nadinenurse, check your PM's.

NadineNurse,

I know the Connections info can be somewhat confusing initially. First, decide which type of voucher you want to use (either the Quick & Casual or the Vacation Kingdom) and then look at the appropriate restaurants for the kind of voucher (e.g. counter service for Q&C or sit-down for the VK).

For the Q&C, you will receive an entree and side dish (many entrees come with side dishes like french fries at the counter service restaurants so you would not generally add another side in that case), a drink and a dessert. If the total, including 6% tax, is more than $11 then you would come out ahead using a voucher. If it is less than $11, you should use the voucher elsewhere.

For the VK vouchers, you can order an appetizer, entree, drink (non-alcoholic) and dessert. There are a few items at certain restaurants that may be limited to use with 2 vouchers (Rainforest Cafe has an appetizer and dessert like this) but otherwise you are generally able to select freely from the items on the menu. If the total with 6% tax and 15% tax is greater than $29.50 then you will come out ahead using the voucher. If not, then use the voucher elsewhere.

Don't be afraid to ask your server/cast member what the vouchers can be used for. You may find that some are more generous in what the vouchers can be used for and it doesn't hurt to ask.

We will be at WDW from 1/25 - 2/1 staying at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge. Our group is me, dh and 2 year old dd. Where is your family staying? We are planning to bring bathing suits since the pools are heated but there is no real way to know yet how the weather will be. I imagine we'll be watching the forecasts as we get closer and bringing a bit of something for every kind of weather just in case!

Hope this info helps - let me know if I can help you further!

Rhonda,

I just wanted to tell you that is one of the clearest explanations of the Connections program that I've ever read. Thank you so much for taking the time to share. Are you a DVCer, by chance? I'm a new "owner" at the BCV, and cannot wait for my first trip "home."

Pat

335 days and counting . . . again

Are you able to share a meal with the VK vouchers or is that a no no? Seems like alot of food for my kids who are considered adults. Shell

My husband and I share a meal. All of the restaurants we have tried have been good about the sharing. LeCellier actually split the meal before they brought it out. Most of them just brought and extra plate. We always leave extra tip to make up for the extra meal the waitress lost.

...that Le Cellier is a good deal with the Lunch voucher?

Would you please elaborate on what you ate and the cost?

Thanks.

It was last month we ate there (twice in fact) so my prices could be a little off.

First time we had the steak with roasted potatoes -$19.
Asia shrimp for an appetizer -$9
100 yrs. of Magic choc. cake -$6
Frozen cappucino--$5

I ordered and paid for a side salad of mixed field greens (i love this) -$2.99
I also paid for an iced tea.
All of this for a 29.50 voucher including tax and tip. We also left a nice tip.

The second time we had the beef tips which we around $16. They were good but I wouldn't get them again. We got the expressor cheesecake for $5 which was great. Appetizer, drinks and salad stayed the same.

This is my favorite restaurant with the vouchers although at AK Rain Forest you saved more money; I just didn't like it as well.

We also ate at Brown Derby and Rose and Crown with the vouchers. I don't really remember prices but I know we didn't save as much at the Rose and Crown.

We are going back in two weeks and I ordered more vouchers as soon as we got home. I think they are a great deal.

Pat & Nadine,

Glad I could help!! It seems I get wonderful and helpful information here everyday and seldom do I have an opportunity to really help someone else. So, I appreciate your thanks and am happy to have been of assistance.

To answer your question Pat, yes we are DVC members. We joined last year and VWL is our "home." This will be our 2nd trip home and we are very very excited to be returning! Someday we hope to visit BCV also as it looks just lovely and the location is awesome.

Hope everyone has a Disney Day!!
