Connecting rooms?

We're going to WDW with our two kids and hate sleeping in the same room as them. We tried for a suite at a couple of places, but they're already all taken. Now I'm thinking of getting two rooms with connecting doors (either at the Beach Club or at the Poly). My travel agent (who doesn't seem to know much about WDW) says we can request connecting rooms but there's no guarantee. Anyone know if there's a way to be sure to get connecting rooms? I'm worried about just chancing it and then ending up with two rooms not connected - DH and I won't want to split up and take one kid each - no fun there!

First things first............ welcome to the DIS gwilliams. You've come to the right place to get answers and tips on just about anything Disney.

I would suggest skipping the travel agent and calling Disney yourself. Explain the situation to them and see what they can do. I gave up using travel agents a long time ago and found that I can usually get the same (or better) prices and have total control over my reservations.

I agree. We had to same dilema when staying at all sports. Our travel agent requested ajoining rooms, which usually means attached at disney that is not the case. We contacted the desk and they were more than helpful. It took a little time and the rooms were connected by a door.

Hi there - I just made my ressie last week thru Central Reservations Office at Disney. I requested connecting rooms. When I received my confirmation in the mail it states "guaranteed connecting rooms for families". So, hopefully I get them.

Welcome!

I must agree book yourself to get "total control" I found Disney works much better and understands when it comes straight for you not 3th party travel agent. We just returned stayed very nice-clean all star sports so close to pool and food court in Surfs up. The rooms were ajoining sure was nice to have control there to if you know what I mean. gota smile...If you book yourself very easy to change/correct if anything changes

When we travel and put kids in one room and adults in the other they always guarantee us connecting rooms for families. You just need to tell them. I would either use a travel agent that knows Disney or book it yourself. We have a wonderful one we use and I would be glad to share it with you if you want to send me a PM. She has booked six of our trips and is fabulous. Only does Disney.

Just make sure you tell them that you will have kids in one room and adults in the other...I'm sure they will guarantee it for you.

Hi. We are traveling to Disney on the 16th and we are taking our two and three year olds. We booked connecting rooms and were told by our travel agent that we would be guaranteed that they are indeed connecting because there were two adults and two children of such a young age. I would clarify with your agent and good luck. NESS:wave:

I was told the same thing - guaranteed connecting for families - my kids will be 3 and 5. Shouldn't be a problem!

I have always been told by Disney that you can request connecting rooms, but Disney can only guarantee connecting is when the children "outnumber" the adults in the party size.

hope this helps

Our travel agent requested ajoining rooms, which usually means attached at disney that is not the case.
The rooms were ajoining sure was nice to have control there to if you know what I mean.

I just wanted to mention that it's not only at Disney that adjoining doesn't mean connecting. My mom was a hotel clerk many years ago and connecting and adjoining rooms were not the same thing even that long ago.
To most hotels, adjoining just means next to each other or consecutive room numbers. Depending on the hotel and how full it is, if you ask for adjoining rooms, they may even be directly across the hall from each other. Connecting rooms are next to each other and have an inside door that can be opened to go from one room to the other without going out in the hallway.
So all connecting rooms are adjoining, but not all adjoining rooms are connecting.

Hi!
I booked 2 rooms at ASMu for the same reason as OP - wanted DS (23 months during Trip) in his own room. With the AP rate, it was cheaper than anything else including FW Cabins! Plus we get two bathrooms, TVs, etc! I am hoping this will work out for us!

BTW - Yes, we got guaranteed connecting rooms, says so on the reservation because of family.

If your travel agent doesn't seem to know much about WDW, you are using the wrong travel agent. Go to a different agency that is familiar with the product. If you stay with the current agency you'll wind up not getting what you want, but paying more for things you don't want.

we just got back this week end. me, dh and dd15, and her 2 friends. We got 2 rooms at asMusic. and they were connecting. They were really good at check in, but i also did ask before we arrived on our res. papers. im sure they will do their best. have fun.
