Wondering if anyone has experience requesting connecting rooms at a moderate resort? If so was your request granted? How did you make the request?

I know that Disney does not guarantee any requests for connecting rooms.

Have been looking at renting DVC points for a one bedroom. (Really love VWL) But our "kids" do not want to share a sofa bed...one will have just turned 18 and the other will be 10. Thinking about the possibility of two rooms at a moderate instead of DVC or deluxe. My husband loves the idea.

When we travel every other year with our high school dance program and bring a group to Disney they have always met our connecting rooms request. But I figured this was due to our group travel.

Looking for insight based on experience. Thanks in advance if you can share.

Yup.

If so was your request granted?

Twice yes, twice no.

How did you make the request?

Called the main reservations line and had the 2 reservations linked in the WDW system as "traveling with". Then made only 1 request on each reservation to have a connecting room with the other reservation.

Good. Going in with the right expectations is great. We didn't know this the first time we didn't get our connecting room request as all our paperwork stated connecting rooms guaranteed. I wasted over 4 hours of precious vacation time, and some very high blood pressure, only to find this is true.

You figured correctly.

For every person that didn't get their connecting rooms request, there will others that did. There is no way to predict what you will encounter because the 2 factors that will determine it are occupancy and how many others requested the same. Neither of which anyone will know for your dates.

We requested connecting rooms once at the Poly. We were given adjoining, but not connecting

We are thinking of making the request at POFQ where we know they have a lot of connecting rooms because I have sponsored student trips there where each room was given a connecting room at our request. But the resort is smaller so they have fewer rooms overall. That would be our only request. We will not request a certain area, floor, or view.

Will just have to hope for good luck I suppose.

You can get a DVC one bedroom with a queen sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in the living room - OKW, AKV, BLT. Plus the king sized bed in the master bedroom. Also, if you book Kidani Village or BLT, you also get a second full bathroom just off the entrance to the villa.

Yes, my one and only time to request a connecting room was at POFQ and we got it

You could actually do a studio at VWL (Boulder Ridge) and that has "3" beds. Has a queen, a sleeper sofa and a pulldown bunk bed. So, one of those resorts where the smaller room actually fits more people.

Requested one connecting and one adjoining (3 room res.) 4rth floor at Pop.

All requests were granted. 3 rooms in a row, one connecting door between two rooms on the fourth floor.

Mind. Blown. I was not expecting any of our requests to be met let alone all of them.

I've been given connecting rooms whenever I was travelling with someone even when it wasn't requested.

2 times at CSR
2 times at POR
1 time at Pop
1 time at YC
