Connecting rooms request question

I’ll start by saying that I know connecting rooms aren’t guaranteed, but if it could be accommodated, it would make our trip more convenient. Here’s the question I have: we arrive on a Sunday for our stay, and the rest of our family arrives Monday. I made both the reservations, and Disney has allowed me to alter he other reservation when I called to change resorts a couple weeks ago, so I guess they can see my association to the reservation somehow. Will the front desk give me any information about whether our request for connecting rooms will be accommodated when we check in on Sunday? I’d be willing to move rooms on a Monday if they could accommodate our request, but it would be nice to know on Sunday if that is necessary so we can either live out of the suitcase for a night or settle in.
I know Disney won’t tell you your room number until the room is cleaned and ready on check in day, so I’m not sure how much information Disney can give us about the Monday check in on our arrival day Sunday.
Just curious if anyone else has had a similar situation and has experiences to share.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Even if they give you a room with a connecting door and tell you the rest of your group will be in that connecting room - it's not their room until they check in and accept it. It could get given to someone else for several reasons.

And I have had that exact thing happen. Checked in with family, was told our 2 rooms connected but 1 was not ready. Low and behold, I ended up in the room on the other side, the one that didn't connect.

It happened to us too. Thankfully there was a connecting set of rooms still available so we were moved, however we were prepared to be separated.
