Connecting rooms at POP not guaranteed..?

First time doing this...need some advice.

My Disney travel agent says that Disney will not guarantee connecting rooms at POP (unless it's 1 parent with a bunch of kids...not the case with us).

She said 9 times out of 10 they will honor the request. My DH thinks that is a bit risky. If we didn't get connecting rooms, it would be a MAJOR bummer for us. We have two small children.

What do y'all think?? I am trying for mid-Jan, and the ASMu suites are booked for the days that I was hoping for.

Thanks!

Like your travel agent says, you may or may not get the connecting rooms - it depends on what is available at the time. The best thing you can do is put the request on your reservation and remind them when you check in.

Here's a little pixie dust for you pixiedust:

In your situation, I don't believe there is anyway to guarentee the connecting rooms.

For the record, it's not a "Pop Century thing", it's a "Disney thing".

Connecting rooms are not guaranteed, period. Disney will do it's best to meet requests, and it does better than pretty much any other hotel company, but if there are no pairs of connecting rooms available, they can't assign you to connecting rooms.

You can also fax a special request for this. My daughter always faxes little special requests a day or two before arriving and has always received them. Disney does not guarantee the connecting rooms as the others have said.

I just booked my trip for Oct 2008 this morning and the disney operator told me that with small children we will get connecting rooms. I asked her several times. I know better to count on this, though isn't it interesting that she told me this?

Thanks everyone for your replies. Do you think my timeframe (mid-Jan) will help me get connecting rooms? That is an "off-season", so maybe not quite as busy...?? I'm hoping, I guess. ;)

Yes, I've been told this also, and my ressie confirmation said "guaranteed connecting rooms" but I chickened out and made other room arrangments because of what's been written in this forum. I wish Disney would either guarantee it "for real" or let you know up-front its just a request

I think at the time you are going you can pretty much count on getting connecting rooms, I would confrim by telling them about the small children that way you can secure it. Disney is very accomodating and will do whatever it takes to make you satisfied.
Have Fun!!pirate:

So I guess what I should be asking is, are there people on here who have requested and NOT gotten connecting rooms at POP? If so, what time of year was it?

Thanks everyone!!

We had connecting rooms at Pop two weeks ago. We were four adults and our request was honored.

If you mentioned you have small children and need the connecting room when you made your ressie I would think you have a good chance of getting it. They do try to accommodate those that have small children. Mid-January is also pretty quiet.

We vacationed with my in-laws during Christmas/New Year's week. The busiest time of the year. I didn't want connecting rooms for obvious reasons. I said adjoining rooms were fine when I booked the rooms. And my in-laws checked in a full week after we did. Now ay to get connecting rooms, right?

Wrong. We had connecting rooms after all. Busiest time of the year, two vastly different check in dates, no kids in either party, not even a request for connecting but we got them.

Made my mother-in-law happy. Made me tell my husband we'll never get connecting rooms with his parents ever again (and we haven't).

Yep. I wonder if she's the same one who told me I could get from Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney by direct bus...

Oh, and if you DON'T get connecting rooms the first night, be willing to move the next day. The resort will move your luggage.

We went the first week in January 06 and stayed at the POP. I requested connecting rooms. There were 5 of us (myself, DH, DS20, DD10 and DSgirlfriend). My travel agent called every month and then the last two weeks before we went. We did get connecting rooms. I don't know if it was the phone calls or the time of year, or both. Good luck.

Last January, I asked the CM to put connecting rooms on our request when I made the reservation. We showed up at Pop and got it. No problems. I even requested 70's building and connected and got both of those requests granted! :)

We've stayed at Pop 3 times and got a connecting room every time without issues...we've gotten them each time we stayed in The World.

Who do you have to call to request this? I asked for connecting rooms for our upcoming trip in 2 weeks to CBR, but I would like to call and just verify. Thanks in advance!:goodvibes

You don't have to call anyone special, just when you make your reservation tell the CM to put in the request for connecting rooms. Sounds like you already did that. Have fun!

What you could always do to double-check it's on there is the next time you call for any reason (to make an ADR, etc) just ask if your request for connecting rooms is on there.
