We will be traveling with my mother in two years. My adult daughter will probably share one room with her while we are in the other. For adults, is there any advantage to getting connecting rooms or is it really only useful when you have children in the second room? I understand that the connecting rooms can be a little more noisy than other rooms and I'm just thinking ahead in case for some reason we have to cancel one room, we would be stuck with a connecting room.

The only plus, IMO, would be the ability to prop that inner door open and have more of a "suite" feel to your rooms. If you don't want that much closeness then the connecting door would serve no purpose.

They are more noisy because of the connecting doors between the rooms. Even with them closed, you can hear your neighbor's conversations. We were just in one earlier this month - if we don't need the connecting room and there are other cabins available, I wouldn't book it again (it wasn't horrible - I just felt we could be overheard whenever we were in the cabin)

Actually on my last cruise I could hear my neighbors talking and we were not "connected" We cruised with friends once and got a connecting room without even requesting it. No advantage really--except as someone else said the suite feeling when you open the doors if you're just hanging out...which doesn't happen too often.

We were on the Oct 11-18 cruise and we had connecting rooms with DD and her family. We loved having the connecting rooms, we were able to open the doors when we wanted to see each other or to find out if everyone was ready without having to leave our room. We bought door stops to keep them open!! We also were able to close the doors if we wanted privacy! I felt it was an added bonus for us, it worked out perfectly!
As far as the noise level, I really didn't hear them when the doors were closed!!
