connecting or adjoining rooms at POR when checking in a week apart?

We are staying at POR.

My mom and son are arriving one week after us..I would like to request either connecting or adjoining rooms (doesn't matter which-we just would like to be near each other).

What are the chances of this happening given that we are not checking in at the same time?

To complicate matters we are in a standard royal room and they are in just a regular standard room..I am not sure if I should just request Oak Manor for us and Magnolia for them to have a better chance of being near each other??

You can have it noted on both reservations that your groups are "traveling with" each other. And request that you have rooms near each other. Also, POR is one of the few resorts that still accepts faxes for room requests. There is a great explanation of that, and how to go about it, on the POR thread. It still won't guarantee you will get what you are asking for, but it will up the odds.

I would say your chances are almost zero to have connecting rooms (or even near each other) since you're checking in a week apart. Definitely note it on both of your reservations, but I wouldn't expect to be near each other.

If you are in a royal room and they are not, there's no chance of either connecting or adjoining rooms. Royal rooms are only in the Oak and Parterre buildings, and there are no regular rooms in either building. Magnolia and Oak are the two closestroyal/non-royal buildings, but keep in mind that you could be on the far side of one and your family on the far side of the other. You can request to be on the Magnolia side of Oak and they request the opposite, but it isn't guaranteed.
